I just really, really hate the way Alex Ross Perry writes dialogue. Always have. I suspect I always will. I keep giving him chances, because he seems like the kind of filmmaker I would like. But I just don’t.

Count me on Team Ad Astra!
I thought High Life was great, but I loved Ad Astra, so you probably don’t care what I think.
A crime film with strippers as the protagonists is a new thing though. I like crime films, but Hustlers was the first time I’ve wanted to live in one the way plenty of dudes seem to want to vicariously live in gangster movies. I thought it was a great depiction of a certain kind of overwhelming female friendship, too.…
If they published this on the 31st or the 1st, far fewer people would be around online to read it. Makes good sense to post it now, before folks start getting too busy to waste time here. Also, who cares when they set the arbitrary cutoff point? Plenty of technically 2019 movies won’t be widely available until 2020…
No one will ever convince me that Her Smell is a good film.
I agree. He's not a villain. And I think the end shows tremendous hope for him. But at no point in the film was I not on Nicole's side of their split.

No. I know a considerable number of left-leaning straight women and gay men who watch Hallmark movies regularly.
Don't buy Hallmark cards ever again.
To the best of my knowledge, yes.
Faking his whole existence more like.
That's one of my all-time favorite books. But after reading the reviews, I decided to skip the film.
Buzz and OperaPunk. I assumed everyone from the old days knew.
Agreed.
I would probably rank Quantum and Skyfall equal, in a weird way. The former is the tone that I’d like for Bond, and as you said, I really liked the direction the franchise was headed at that time, but there are some pretty deep problems in how its story is stitched together. The latter’s story infuriates me, but…
Embarrassing display of vulnerability incoming: Of all the nostalgic and happy and sad and angry feelings I have about this place and my involvement in it for more than a decade, it’s weird that what dominates my feelings is the yearslong catfishing that we all “got” to experience and how it genuinely fucked me up…
I still think about Horsefellow and laugh quietly to myself from time to time.
Wolf Eyes!
