As others have said these panels don’t have enough mass to make a serious contribution to dissipating energy. They do however create a massive flying debris risk. No way a racing series is going to design like that specifically for safety.

Yep enduros usually use steel brakes. Ceramics tend to fail catastrophically and without warning when punished over longer periods. Steel brakes are cheap to maintain and have a more predictable lifecycle.

Freaking awesome these things can sail cross-wind in a cyclone!

The thing is, that the new BBC Top Gear ARE trying to mix things up and add some freshness to the format (to varying success) and its much more watchable for it.

These guys could have gone off and done literally anything with the free-hand and finance that Amazon gave them - a really rare opportunity in life - but they chose to just go off and re-create the old Top Gear, which was already showing major signs of tiredness.
