The Trailblazers and Envoys always had a bit of a “limp”. They were some of the heaviest and sloppiest-handling vehicles even when new. Plus, they produced them for so long that there’s an endless supply of them.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out how GMC is three spots above Chevy when the differences are cosmetic. This accounts for it nicely.
And then there is the other side of the picture... it assumes the operating costs of all cars is the same, when in reality, it can vary greatly.
I don’t think it’s that ambiguous. The included chart indicates that someone making $200k-$250k should be buying a honda accord, which is a $20k-$25k car.
It’s all about rolling the dice. Yes you can buy a decent car off CL for $6K As someone who can work on his own cars and hasn’t taken a car to the shop outside of warranty work in 15 years, it’s not a problem. I can keep any one of those cars running probably pretty cheap for 3 years.
Absolutely. The average print subscriber is 65 years old, and the average digital subscriber is 56. These are people who, understandably, report things as broken when they don’t work perfectly. Younger folks are accustomed to a little more troubleshooting.
note Glad to see someone acknowledge it. The self-selection of subscribers and the voluntary nature of the survey both throw some bias and significant error into the process.
Also, note that they say they had “more than 400,000 vehicles”. Ok, but that’s over 2000-2019 model years, which would average out to 20,000…
Great point. The same kind of patient, studious folks who take the time to fill out a detailed survey are the same kind of people who meticulously maintain their vehicles. It stands to reason that they would observe fewer reliability issues.
How to move up in reliability survey: Don’t change anything. For 14 years.
car bad name
You know that the mob and the monarchy are two completely opposite things, right?
My first thought was at that price and condition, it should just go straight to BaT.
Nice car, but too much money
I did this with my Autozam with only 63 hp. When the rear end starts to slide, the instinct is to let off the throttle. That makes the car snap back and spin out. It’s very common in mid rear engine cars. Lift off snap oversteer.
fractionated?
Entire ad is in CAPS, so CP because it wouldn’t be worth dealing with whoever is on the other side.
People have been calling the Corvette a 911 competitor for years, and even if it’s the inverse, here we are...
Nice points -- I think Tesla’s biggest inherent advantage is being a BEV-only company. Everyone else has to juggle cannibalization and distribution of resources/priorities. For better or worse, Tesla is all-in.
None of this was surprising, really. Porsche will sell heaps of these things on reports like this alone.
Hey Torch, man, thanks for a bunch of good times here. I’m sorry the site is exploding due to weaponized incompetence, but if it’s any consolation the work you and your colleagues do is great, and I am confident it will soon be recognized by someone who knows how to, say, own and operate a media website.
