It’s okay, I thought Woody Harrelson was Paul Newman and I have no excuse for that.

I wouldn’t have been able to tell you with any confidence whatsoever whether Woody Allen were alive or dead before Dylan’s pieces came out!

I first heard that he married his step daughter when I was 24... I remember that moment pretty clearly because my boyfriend told me while trying to talk me into watching Annie Hall. Not every one is plugged into the artsy film world. I’ve still never seen a Woody Allen movie. It’s just not anything anyone in my life

I didn’t know about Dylan’s abuse because I live under a rock and also am not in the film industry. “I’d heard rumors but didn’t believe them in 2012" would have been more believable in this apology.

You ignorant kindling.

I became a teacher at 22 and SO MANY people told me that I must be driving the high school boys crazy. It creeped me out SO much. Parents! Dates! Coworkers! They all thought this was a funny comment to make. That dynamic sickens me, and always has. I’ve gotten into a few Jez spats over it (though usually about my 18+

Bear in mind that the age difference encompasses his authority over her and moral authority of what she should do with her body as her abstinence educator, college (my assumption), legal adulthood, and also that five years at that age is nearly 1/3 of her life.

Spot on. One thing I’ve learned from translating the gospels (clears throat impressively, pats self on back) is that sin isn’t such a strong word in those texts, meaning something closer to “to miss the mark.” In other words, to err. It is something that REQUIRES your action, it is not an evil entity that can get away

I get the feeling people will still be RoyMooreously applauding him next Sunday.

Stop hiding Feinberg in links. Bring Feinberg out into the light. Feinberg for President 2020.

Yeah that’s awkward. I Googled Zenobia Shroff Golden Globes and a bunch of pictures came up of Meher Tatna. I guess everybody’s doing it. D:

This sounds like a great show and I cannot wait until this makes its way to Netflix or Amazon Prime. I really wish that Showtime would give us the option to purchase individual episodes/seasons, but at least they’re usually available after a certain amount of time passes.

Yeah I thought it was pretty lowkey to say that Cher should apologize now that we’re nearly two decades into the twenty-first century and we all know better but she won’t and that’s somehow equivalent to me raising a pitchfork and giving every single liberal on earth a bad name. So, none of this surprises me.

It is commenters like you, declaring which cultural appropriations matter and which we should all just shrug off, that make this an unpleasant comments section.

You don’t have to be white to make a white comment. That’s not how an oppressive culture works.

How white is this comment.

(1) Cher should absolutely apologize for Half Breed, EVEN THOUGH it was in the ‘70s, even though education about cultural appropriations and the Cherokee Princess mythos wasn’t as widespread as it is today.

Absolutely. In general, I find the Boston vs. NYC thing tiresome, probably because I’m from Upstate New York and find it all tiresome, but this I like. This I can get behind.

I think when an entire city becomes inherently funny to another city, every headline about that city that becomes giggle-worthy. But this is definitely old-school Jezebel inside-joke NYCism which...I don’t really mind. (I also live in Boston.)

Amy Schumer had a “decent time” in Boston is the perfect fucking description of this city.
