but rather than asking students to boycott this university (as if any other wouldn’t have exactly the same problems) they could refuse to work with the known predators, and refuse to work with the ones who are widely whispered about, too

This is half-true, and definitely full-on virtue-signaling. The University of Rochester is a private and very expensive university—as costly as an Ivy. But lower- and middle-class students who can get into it, and couldn’t get into Princeton, Yale, Johns Hopkins, etc. because they don’t come from good secondary

Her album sales surprise me just as much as Trump’s election which is to say: not at all.

Ah, I meant that there are “online only” sales that didn’t seem to apply to the store I work by.

OMG thanks! Already a big fan of the first two, but I can’t wait to plug some of these others in Pandora later.

They’re mostly cheaply made, some hit-or-miss, but I rarely take the risk anymore. I bought a great, thick sweater from them in the middle of the summer last year that was like the Old J Crew again, but you have to go way off-season sale for whatever was on the top top shelf. Sometimes the hunt is fun, but most of the

Country music on the radio isn’t really listenable anymore. I luck into a good country song once in a while on Pandora, but I mostly listen to the ‘80s and ‘90s songs for my country fix.

Idk, I can’t hate T.S. the way Jez wants me to and see everything she does as problematic, I just don’t see it.

No problem! Luckily, the people that I have kept up with (in person, or on Facebook) have landed on their feet. But even they tell prospective grad students not to go to U of R for a science degree. Exceptions being: the medical and nursing schools. And the admin probably knows that their medical schools are strong

Ughhhh.

I mean...

It’s baffling because their pants sizes are NOT all that uniform. I need to try on Gap pants to know, so I go into the store, find the most similar cut and style, and then cross my fingers and hope for the best when I order online. BUT JEEZ.

YAS

I agree with you. The whole scandal has already tanked Jaeger’s department, its reputation, and its grad student enrollment long before his predatory behavior became public knowledge. But this is a long time in coming for the U of R—who have also been called out by their students and alumni for how poorly they handle

Maybe it has nothing whatsoever to do with music and everything to do with brand. Swift doesn’t have any opinions on Trump for the same reason that she keeps her songs in both genres. She moves with the zeitgeist, and wants to stay agile.

This is an important point. I’m from the area, and some of my friends have their nursing degrees from the U of R. They were thrilled to be accepted into the program, because it stands heads and shoulders above the other programs that were within a reasonable distance of their families and homes. The U of R does a lot

No one wants that. Also, their bridal prices went up after they opened the Brick and Mortar stores so...lose-lose.

Oooo I heard that store was really unpleasant. I haven’t been married, but assumed if I ever were I’d just order a couple J Crew dresses to try on by mail and be done with it. Wasn’t that the appeal?!

It’s true. I’ve tried a few times since college (which was, naturally, my J Crew heyday), but the clothes aren’t the same. Which is a shame. I’m still wearing the shirts and sweaters I bought in college, and would still be wearing the pants and skirts if they fit.

Gap Sale is amazing, and I highly recommend shopping it. Their stuff, pants especially, are higher quality. And they’ve had a really amazing year in knits. I’d never buy their stuff full-priced, but their sales are plentiful. I have noticed that they have more sales online than in stores, which I find odd if they’re
