If by “take chances” you mean be racist/sexist/transphobic...then I don’t see what the problem is. You can take chances and NOT be a racist piece of this, despite that the edgelords seem to think.

“Cancel culture” is just “political correctness” rebranded for a new generation.

But the idea of this as a new distinct thing is totally a myth. It’s just not okay to treat more and more people who it used to be okay with treating as less than people, as less than people, and that has always been changing and shifting. White supremacy in the US going away is a big shift, where previously it was

I don’t think that cancel culture is real in the sense that nobody’s getting cancelled. And there is definitely an element out there that will just comb through Twitter to find something... anything. And maybe a few people will tweet about it and blogs like this will make it a bigger deal than what it is. But nobody

Within social justice circles there are conversations about how call out culture can be vindictive and toxic. Because it totally can. Jon Ronson’s “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” addressed internet mob culture in pre metoo/trump days. People being held accountable for being harassers/rapists/racists/generally awful

What she said was plenty insensitive and stupid, and I wouldn't call it inconsequential. But I don't like the idea of rendering unemployable everyone who said something insensitive and stupid in high school.

It really depends on what you mean by myth. It’s not a myth that people face blowback for their actions. It’s not a myth that people have faced marginalization for their views, good and bad, since the dawn of time. It is not a myth that people get harassed for a variety of reasons, from the views they hold to simply

“Way too quick to assume the worst” is definitely the case online, particularly on Twitter.

although she was “guilty as accused”, the situation around Alexi McCammond (almost Teen Vogue editor) was also pretty crappy, and really highlighted how some people would not accept anything but absolute perfection.

The desire to hold people accountable is good.

White grievance portrayed as “cancel culture” by right-wing nutjobs is indeed a myth.

Agreed that the statement that it is a myth has me stumped. Just because accountability hasn’t reached everyone yet, doesn’t mean it’s not a thing. And “Cancel Culture” is a pejorative derived by piece of shit human beings trying to prevent people (namely white men) from being held accountable for their shitty

Yeah, the fact that Farrakhan’s a massive piece of shit doesn’t change the fact that he also was a massively important figure in the civil rights movement.

It’s so weird that being antisemitic is the only type of hate speech where you’re immediately forgiven for a half-assed apology!

Quinta was willing to do both her own series and sketch show if the pandemic did not happen. Things are getting better so I have hope she can return someday.

It seems that they just don’t mention her absence at all. I hope she can come back in the future!

Does anyone have a clip of the Georgia election and Kemp, in his anxiety, started questioning about Black people’s right to vote? I remember what he said, clear as day. That video should be enough of the GOP’s intent.

Hell yes. I didn’t fully realize how good it was until I rewatched episodes, but damn it’s good. I love the variety in characters the ladies get to play—none of them get stuck playing the same type over and over.

It's good that Quinta Brunson is at a place in her career where she has scheduling conflicts, but I'm really sad she's not back. For one thing this means new opening credits, and goddamn I loved those muppets.

I enjoyed the first season, so I’m happy it’s back.
