I wish Jezebel had a lesbian writer for these interviews, especially for a lesbian movie. A gay man is still a man. I’d like to have a gay woman’s point of view on this film. In any case, I hope the sex scenes are not voyeuristic and are as touching and beautiful as in the BBC adaptation.
When you say the last 100 pages, do you mean the twist that happens in the middle of the book? Or are you talking about something different? Because the twist in the middle of the book made me fall off my bed, literally! I don’t want to be too explicit as I don’t want to spoil the story for people who haven’t read it.
“To answer your other query, I don’t think there is enough interest in stories in different languages. Most Americans don’t like to read when they watch movies” Well that’s their loss. You guys miss out on so much good stuff. Too bad for you and your self-centeredness, I guess.
Played by a WoC ? America and their weird relationship with race again. Gal Gadot is Israeli, she’s white. And I can understand some people not being thrilled with WonderWoman as a world ambassador: it’s an American symbol, not a world one, a lot of people in the world didn’t grow up with her comics and probably don’t…
Very well said.
Yes she was white. And? Did you expect her to write about black people in 1792? Really?
Ok. I found Fingersmith pretty satisfying so I wonder what they’ve changed to the story.
Because it’s the most prestigious award. Did I really need to spell this out for you? Refusing the Nobel Prize means you’re a pretentious douche.
I can’t stand Sartre (he supported totalitarian regimes, he refused to see the awfulness of communism) but I just don’t believe he would have ever asked the Swedish Academy for his money. No way. He refused the Nobel Prize in 1964 precisely because he believed that writers shouldn’t care for official distinctions.…
Far more satisfying than Fingersmith you mean?
I cannot wait for this movie to come out in my country. I love Fingersmith (both the book and the BBC miniseries) as well as Stoker by Park Chan-wook. Super excited!
Well when will the US ratify the Kyoto Protocol though? You’re the most polluting country in the world. Even if Clinton wins, Americans will still carry on with their llifestyle, buying gas guzzling cars and putting the AC on everywhere. Meanwhile the EU is doing a lot to reduce its carbon emissions and has for years.
Thank you. I completely agree. I’ve never understood this idea that a lot of feminists (and let’s be honest, lesbians in particular) have that wearing make-up and being traditionally feminine is buying into the patriarchy. It’s basically saying that anything girly and pink is inferior and gross and not as cool as as…
Huh where did I say she can’t be a victim of sexism? I was just saying that I don’t like her much that’s all.
I think she just doesn’t have a huge range as an actress, that plus she picked bad projects and also nobody is seeing a movie because of Hillary Swank.
Yes thank you for reminding us. Sorry I can’t get past that. Besides she doesn’t have a career anymore anyway
I know, people don’t take it seriously. It’s infuriating.
I meant they’re generic because they all look the same: white, blonde and thin. Yes maybe they’re smart and interesting. But let’s just be honest here: he’s not dating them for their intelligence or their deep conversation.
La Manif Pour tous (the horrible movement that demonstrated last Sunday against gay marriage) doesn’t represent many people in reality. They’re just a loud minority.
