Most countries do issue passports of different colors for different folks, so yes. Turkish passports can be black (diplomatic), green (for what I’ll call “low-level public figures” like mayors), grey (I’m not sure who gets these) or maroon, which is for regular folks.

The supermarket tip is what I do, but only a small amount at a time. So when I pay, I grab a big handful of change and drop it in the checmout machine.
