Also the old racist redneck trope isn’t edgy in the least.

I’m not seeing this hair-splitting between “seeming racist” and “being racist.” He was actually racist to Yi. That’s not all in our imaginations. He just needs to say he’s sorry and understands why he shouldn’t do that and won’t do it again.
Nobody cares what his intent was because his intent doesn’t matter. He singled out a minority because of her race and chose on purpose to make her feel othered because of it. His intent was to do that. He intended to do it. I don’t see how you can say he doesn’t “seem racist” to you when he flat out said something…
He shouldn’t apologize for “coming off as racist.” He should apologize for saying racist things.
But it doesn’t matter about his “kind of” humor. In this case, his “kind of” humor was flat out, no possible way to disagree about it, racist.
I mean...even if you take what he says at face value and he was doing a character, why does he think that makes it okay? Being racist “in character” to someone for absolutely no reason by way of greeting is just being racist.
I don’t recall saying I was confused. And yes, I clearly said that I think the AVClub shouldn’t be posting these stories at all, because “(somehow)“ doing so takes away from stories posted on other websites, so I am confused as to how you could possibly be confused about what I was saying since I laid it out in two…
Ha, that’s cute. I’m happy for them. There’s nothing like young love. :)
Yeah, I get that that’s what AVClub thinks the point is, and yet I still find myself unconvinced. As I said, you can see hundreds of posts from regular women on FB or Twitter right now calling attention to themselves. All I see this really doing is taking away the attention from all of those regular women’s stories.…
I’m sorry but I don’t really understand why this constantly updated list is necessary. Anyone with Facebook can see hundreds of stories from regular women. Why do we need a compilation of celebrities’ stories as if they are more important. The story is that women across the world are sexually assaulted and harassed on…
It doesn’t need to strike anyone else as anything. It’s his life and his kid and his loss.
She was the love of his life (how he felt at the time he lost her), and now she’s gone, and now he has a new love. It makes perfect sense to me.
Sure, all litigation depends on jurisdiction. I’m not saying I wouldn’t make the argument if the client paid me to, but I don’t see it being a winner. But godspeed to you if you get tapped to defend Weinstein Productions.
The clause only refers to “treating someone improperly in violation of the company’s code of conduct.” That could mean any number of things and in and of itself would be a very hard public policy case to make. I don’t see a judge voiding an otherwise pretty inocuous clause, setting a precedent, over one set of bad…
I’m some sort of lawyer, and I see no reason why it wouldn’t.
If he’s that far up his ass at least he knows how full of shit he is. lol But I desepise him for many reasons so it’s impossible for me to be impartial when talking about him.
My sweet 2 year old girl loves King Jack and the Dragon and the Pete the Cat books. She loves most books, though, and her favorites change frequently. Ada Twist, Scientist is a great one for girls (and boys, for that matter—there’s no reason boys can’t read books with girl heros).
Tarantino is so full of shit.
Not one joke, but the culture that the joke represents.
You do realize that GoT is fiction, right? And that in that show rape actually is depicted as a bad thing? And that what he said was in real life? And not depicting it as a bad thing? Surely even you can see the difference?
