I sometimes do. It's better for your teeth.
I sometimes do. It's better for your teeth.
It totally happens here. I've had several people call me a troll just for disagreeing with them (in a nice way).
My husband is the managing editor of a politics website and he says the commenters don't drive traffic that much at all, and in fact only make up a teeny percentage of actual readers (clicks). Still. It blows that AVClub is dismissing us so readily after years of saying how important a robust comment community was…
Who does that help, though? What value does that provide to either the site or to the reader?
It really is.
Right. People comment here because they enjoy having a conversation. If all we wanted to do was hold forth to the author, who rarely comments back (which is fine, the writers don't get paid to talk to us), what's the point? It's like hollering into a vacuum.
I thought you all liked that AVClub had a robust comment community. Keyword bieng "community," meaning people who talk to one another. Just reading comment after comment is no fun if there's no engagement among the commenters themselves. Are you saying your goal is to prevent people from going off topic? If so…
We only comment for the upvotes. :)
What about the old AVClub accounts? That's what I'm still using… Is that the name we will be able to transport to the Kinja, or do I need to make a Disqus account to do that?
Chad killllllled me!
Well, because I guess I wasn't sure which women you were talking about. Only some of the women were mean. Others just "bolted," which could mean anything—it could just mean saying "Interesting, but that is a turn off for me and I'm choosing not to enter into a romantic relationship with you." I didn't know if…
I would definitely not insult or belittle him or tell him to change. I'd probably just say hey, well that's not for me, so we're going to part ways as a romantic couple. Or maybe I wouldn't. It depends on when he told me and how I felt about him otherwise, but in no case would I take it as a green light to be mean…
But is cross dressing an identity or a hobby? I'm not into men who weightlift as a hobby. Does that mean that a guy has found someone "better" than me if he finds a woman who is into weightlifters? If a guy wants to wear dresses, hey go for it, buddy! But does that mean every woman has to find it as attractive as…
None of this makes any sense!
Aw :(
Why are they still rivals? I never saw the original sequels but at the end of the first movie it looked like Johnny had a change of heart when he handed him the trophy and said "You're alright LaRusso!"
It doesn't depend on my definition of "upswing" at all. It depends on the show's definition, which I'm sure will be clearly shown and explained. Guesswe'll just have to watch and find out. The poster didn't say that the South winning the war was necessarily unlikely, just that it wasn't more so than whatever is…
The remainder of the present-day USA would dwarf this state. It was only about half its current size after the Civil War. Still much larger than this New Colonia, no doubt, but size is not the only way by which a country succeeds. It will have lost half its work force due to the abolition of slavery, so the…
Well, yeah, and the contention is that this new country being on the upswing while the USA is in decline is no less believable than the South winning the Civil War. Since both are alternative histories, then both are equally believable.
I'm happy to take your word on th at.
