Why do folks like this series so much?

I also generally only play long RPGs once but for folks looking to keep engaging with the game I can see how a new game+ would be an easy way to allow for that.

There are a few indie games that if you bought Steam keys (or on itch) from the developer directly, probably yes actually. Dead Cells is a good candidate, or Dust: An Elysian Tail, or Iconoclasts.

This is exactly what was running through my mind as I read this article. I’m starting to feel responsible for enabling these toxic assholes. People laugh off the toxicity of games online as it’s business as usual....it seems like a majority of people involved in gaming are toxic.

I mean I get being cynical, but GSC is based out of Kyiv made the game is made by Ukrainian developers. Its not like they are in another country trying to cash on in the Ukraine support.

A lot of it IS straight up fetish gear. The bunny girl starting gear is a straight up stripper outfit. FFXIV displays it’s fetishes proudly to the world.

Sounds like you played it with very low expectations, on decent PC, after most of the ugly stuff was fixed, on easier mode (the game IS easy mode), and didn’t take the game seriously along the way. That’s basically the ideal way to enjoy it for most people. Congrats!

There is still some gender-locking of certain clothes, and some armor sets do show more skin on female models than on male models (like the male models get pants while the female models get shorts and long leggings so that there’s some bare thigh). But it is improving, with far fewer gender-locked clothes coming out…

Most of it is gender neutral now but some the races get skimpier versions than other races for some things. Miqo’te get the oddly less sexy stuff compared to the Hyur’s for one of the earlier game tops. If you want the 2B thong on guys, go ahead and wear it too. Wanna wear a dress as a Roe? Rock on.

it is straight up dystopic nightmare. there is one faction of freed slaves who seem the most relatable and human, but they are constantly being killed or abducted by their former slavers. Everywhere else is a corporate nightmare.
