I just figured it out. It looks like a movie made by AI. Technically it’s sort of a marvel but it’s also just not right and kinda ugly. Didn’t help that he seemed like a robot while he was talking on the stage with Keighley. Zach Snyder is the product of ChatGPT.

I know. That’s why I’m excited.

Yeah. And, I dunno exactly what it is about the CGI other than maybe it’s 99% CGI, but it looks....cheap? Like I know it’s Snyder’s style any all, but maybe it’s a quarter of his usual budget? Maybe it’s the colors don’t quite look right? Maybe it’s that he is out there promoting a movie while the writers and actors

Anyone else here more for a love of Control than for OG Alan Wake? I mean, I liked the original, but Control is my real Remedy jam and potential Control tie-ins is like 75% of my interest in this.

That is a legit factor to consider, and makes perfect sense, though I would say it’s one of those examples of how limitations breed innovations, resulting in a better overall product. Total blue sky freedom on special effects has made everything a special effects showcase, which to me has flooded the market on

Two Things

First, I mostly agree that Star Wars is stagnating because it’s flooding. There is too much Star Wars, resulting in a drought of god ideas, but there is the exception of Andor being just a great story that incidentally happens to be in Star Wars. So it’s not totally out of Ideas, but the ones that are good

Was Odyssey loner than Valhalla or something? I played both, mainlined both, mostly ignoring side content because I have to work for a living. I thought Valhalla was the bigger of the two, but Odyssey is the one being sited here.

Either way, I don’t ever trust anything Ubisoft says until it’s in front of me. They have

And nothing of value was lost!

Ordered by Tarkin but Vader is complicit in that order as the next down in the chain of command (something I always found a little odd but I’m not willing to dive into the comics or books to find out why Tarkin outranked Vader despite Vader being Palpatines apprentice, but whatever.)

No thank you.

For real, ubi games have good open world (yeah, I said it) and they have good gameplay (yeah, I said that too). But they do not have gameplay good enough to sustain interest through worlds this big. Valhalla was the absolute tipping point for me. It eventually got to be too much, like playing an MMO.

Hell,

Waypoint shut down, All of Giant Bomb’s original folks moved on, now the last of the oldschool Kotaku writers leaves the site. I know that most of these folks have other projects ongoing, but it does seem like a lot of my old standard bookmarks aren’t what they used to be, for better or worse.

I hate that someone made that quote into a faux inspirational quote poster. I get the satire, but I still hate it.

I think it’s fine to like a character that is a villain in appreciating the character. I think I just encounter too many folks that want to emulate him, which is decidedly NOT the point of a good villain in fiction.

That is definitely a factor. Capitalism bought and owns anti-capitalist sentiment too, which is what a show you pay to watch is, essentially. But so is everything else. I don’t think that’s the specific thing that bugs me here since that just is what bugs me about everything in life. It might just be a place and time

You know, there are tons of games where you get to play as a villian. You can play as Vader in Battlefront and he is a planet-wide mass murderer. You can play as a fascist in Disco Elysium. You can sacrifice a baby in Tyranny. These things don’t bother m so much. But for some reason, this push of playing as Homelander

I’m not arguing against it’s inclusion, just pointing out how funny it is that it’s a listable feature.

Feature confirmed: Racism.

I’m going to say nice things about Redfall.

The setting and art style was great. I’m a sucker for spooky New England small town vibes and the map (I only explored the first one) had those vibes in spades.

The color palate was really nice and with the right tweaks to allow the dark parts to be really dark in contrast

I hope so. I’m still watching it now, but some of the dialogues doing things like not triggering, placeholder text, awkward animations, bad lip sync. I’ve played the early access for years now and those were all there too but I still loved every minute, so it’s not a make or break concern, just something I was hoping

All of this is cool, but the frame rate and some of the tech issues on the stream today make me worry about performance. Now, I’m pretty forgiving, I played and Liked Cyberpunk before their big patch, but I’m a little worried about the jank nonetheless.
