280 over the Stickel Drawbridge in Newark drops to I believe 40 or 45 for about 1/4 mile, then ramps back up again. Its understandable since the lanes get extremely narrow and there are several tight on and off ramps, but no one follows the speed change.

In the "Thanksgiving Songs" category, there is only one for me- Alice's Restaurant.

If you're looking to try using a straight razor I have 2 recommendations: (1): get a double-edge safety razor first and use it for a while to get a feel for open blade shaving. Its completely different than the standard mach-3 experience and takes some practice to learn the correct pressure (none) and direction

And if you own a generator, don't forget to pick up a NEMA L14-30P plug and wire, or extension cord to get it wired to your house. At the first whiff of the storm here last week, literally every local Lowes, Home Depot, and electrical supply house sold out of them in minutes. Without it, you're left to running

Sufjan is touring in support of this album. If it weren't for the prospect of having to sing Christmas songs with strangers at Bowery Ballroom, I'd probably go. He's one of my all-time faves.

I found this gif last night and it had me laughing for a solid 5 minutes. Something about the seriousness of the font combined with the humor in the image. Long live AD!

You can try the way they showed us in Architecture school. Take a ruler and draw 2 parallel lines about 1/4 of an inch apart on a sheet of paper. Use a triangle to draw the upright lines of each letter and then fill in the curved parts. Check the vid attached.

So I'm biased on this because I am one, but if any of this makes you nervous, apprehensive, or filled with more questions than answers, please hire an architect. Especially for larger home renovations, the marginal up front costs can save a huge headache in the long run. In my experience (again, biased), there are far

Love my Persol 714-SM Special Editions! They're so comfortable to wear for a long time and the optics are amazing. They don't darken everything like cheaper lenses do- its more of a block out the harsh glare approach while deepening contrast.

I was going to say the same thing. I may invest in a pair for work... I have Etymotic ER6i's which are...ok... but when they're in I can't hear my phone ring or people calling me. They've got pretty favorable reviews on Headroom who are not easy to impress.

During that giant east coast October snowstorm that knocked power out in my entire state for 3-4 days, we went out and bought a big generator from Grainger for I believe about $700. They were the last place in the entire state that had them in stock, and even though I had pre-ordered one, I almost didn't get it.

How sweet you are... how sweet you are... in your long black American car.

One of my favorite morbid places on the net is Find-A-Grave's famous grave search. It is somehow fascinating to see the final resting places of more or less any movie star, sports figure, tv star, etc.

Lady liberty won't be watching. She faces the wrong way.

I just bought a Freitag F21 Nightclub... I was won over by the unique nature of each one- since they're made from recycled truck tarps, no 2 are identical- and the rugged nature of the products that go into them. They're a tad pricey, yes, but I'm in love with the design and they can fit my MBA plus a stack of vinyls.

I have one of these! Mine is red leather, I bought it on significant discount from the DWR outlet in NJ... it had one tiny little speck of damage in the leather and BOOM! 75% off. It is honestly one of the most comfortable chairs in my house. It's not a la-z-boy, but its not trying to be, either. It just supports you

I was in the front row at the last show at MSG. It was incredible. I intend to be in... well, not the front row of the movie but somewhere in the theatre wearing the same suit I wore to the show and sporting the neon-green wristband. Going to be a great night, I can't wait.

I'm honestly surprised that the 500 Abarth didn't make the list of hard-to-buy cars. I took my normal 500 sport in for an oil change last week and was chatting with the service guy about the Abarth. They had (1) on the lot. I asked if I could take it for a spin while mine was being serviced. He said that he'd love to

So here's a question I didn't see addressed... if your car has one of those "maintenance required" lights like mine does, how do you turn it off post oil change? Do you need some fancy voodoo dealer OBD tool or is there a simple trick?
