@beatledud: Uhm... I'm sorry but what? Nothing can ever be considered "the ugliest piece of architecture" as long as this building exists in the world. The Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea by far takes that title.

2 reasons not to buy one of those multi-shade snake lights for your dorm (as seen in the lead photo): 1. they start fires and will probably be confiscated and 2: they're ugly as sin and give off terrible light.

I was going to submit but couldn't get permission from the subject in my photo on time. I got the perfect shot of him snagging a frisbee out of the air. He's a teacher and I didn't want his students happening across this without him knowing about it. He's already had an embarrassing run-in with one of them while out

My parent's first car after they were married was a fiat spyder... broken all the time but still fun so that doesn't count. They also had a diesel peugeot that he would have to go out on cold days, remove the glow plugs, heat them with a hairdryer and reinstall to get the car to start. The one that I remember as the

"hmmm... the internet king. I wonder if HE can provide me faster nudity"

The obvious shower song is Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull. Bonus points if you play it on vinyl while showering and have to get out to flip the record over for the second half.

Thoughts on how they shot this? Did they have to change tape or just direct capture it to a massive hard drive?

My work from college is backed up on three redundant drives AND on a series of DVD's which I keep locked in a fireproof safe which is bolted to the floor in my closet. With luck, I should have everything well protected.

@jamjen: And I spent awhile in my early learning days on a 12 string acoustic. What a mistake that was...

I hope the buttons are textured like wound guitar strings and are equally as difficult to push down. One of the biggest parts of learning guitar is developing finger strength and calluses.

@Bret: Unfortunately we're working on securing a trademark and provisional patent on the design, so I can't. Plans for home-built kayaks are pretty readily accessible with a quick google; our test pilot in this video has been working on his own boat (with a mugh higher degree of quality and craft) for about three

My friends and I are planning on building a duck tape sailboat, ala mythbusters, this summer. We've already built ourselves a kayak out of plywood and 6 mil poly (vapor barrier), which was waterproofed and reinforced against the river ice with duck tape. The video is our test run.

no votes for top gear?

Speaking of morbid ways to kill time on a tuesday morning, this website is an interesting read...

@dcdttu: There was a brilliant article in the New Yorker awhile back about Cameron Todd Willingham, who was put to death by the state of texas for supposedly burning down his house and killing his young daughters. The original arson inspectors found that without a doubt he had done it; however shortly before his

Charles and Ray Eames did some excellent work over a broad spectrum of media. Their house in Pacific Palisades still stands as one of the icons of mid-century american modernism... and what kid hasn't gone through grade school without seeing "the powers of ten"?

Ok ok, I'll be the one to do it:

If this was going to be *historically* accurate, George Washington should be driving a Citroen.

Does the headphone hole in the bumper mean you can only use the apple headphones with it? if so, #dealbreaker.

Lagonda, primarily because I'd need to keep myself busy. I can't even imagine how huge the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual must be for this car, what with that wild dash.
