Agreed, the site has a major bias against American manufacturers not named Tesla. If GM makes bad business decisions or does something shady, then by all means call them out. But don’t apply double standards. It’s amateur-hour journalism.

This is Jalopnik, GM is always bad here. GM makes affordable, manual, RWD sports cars? Their interiors aren’t as nice as cars 10x the price, so clearly they suck and are awful. I think GM could end world hunger and Jalopnik would find a way to complain about it.

You are not legally bound to issue a violation letter demanding a fee when you know no violation has occurred. Usually, however, you are legally bound not to do that.

Writing a letter demanding a fee for a violation you know to be meritless just because it’s easier than doing the right thing (i.e., a cursory investigation and a response to the complainant that no violation occurred) is just as much a violation of HOA bylaws as failing to do anything, and in a lot of jurisdictions…
