I had the same issue.  I ended up with a roof-mounted antenna, and it changed everything.  If you don’t want to mount one on the roof, the attic might work, or a balcony, or a pole outside.

I don’t see the point of a really expensive natural gas powered generator for most people. Yeah, they are great, but..for $10k+ I can take a luxury cruise with the entire family for 10 days while they restore power if the worse comes to the worse.

I keep a flashlight by my bed, in case I need to investigate something in the middle of the night. Those odd noises in the middle of the night usually aren’t someone breaking in. That flashlight is also happens to be attached to a handgun in case it is. That, and a smartphone to dial 911 and control various Hue lights…

Some people don’t want an EV. Hybrids are more flexible. I can take a long road trip in a hybrid. I can evacuate from a hurricane in a hybrid. I can carry extra fuel.  If I run out, I could let it recharge for a while and limp to a gas station.  A purely electric vehicle has limitations.

The better and probably cheaper approach would be to say “we’ll install 5 square meters of lower-efficiency solar cells on your house if you buy this model”.
