My smartphone is the albatross around my neck. It’s a necessity due to my job and life, but I don’t really like it and if I’m at work or spending time with friend or family- I don’t check my phone. I don’t check my phone when I’m just sitting on the couch with my husband a lot of the time. I always tell people, if

Well please know that some of us genuinely don’t have the ability to check our phones at all times and when we text that, we mean it.

Yea, gone are the days when “different political views” meant that you disagreed about trade policy or how to most effectively fund schools, if those days ever really existed at all. Basic human decency has become a “political issue,” and you can bet your ass I’ll un-friend someone over that.

My main texting peeve is when people use lol as punctuation, ending literally every sentence with it: How are you lol. I’m great lol. Been busy lol.

If only there was a way to communicate that expressed nuance through inflection and tone and volume. Maybe someday.

for a bunch of people who whine incessantly about “illegals” needing to “learn English” they barely have a grasp of the language themselves.

My fellow educators have received boilerplate letters from Sen. Grassley essentially stated he trusts Trump’s decision. Oh yeah, and DeVos won’t MAKE the educational laws; she’ll just ENFORCE them. She is also great for public schools!

oh woops! My bad

The people who can afford it least are exactly the ones who are needed to strike. If every woman in my office took the day off, it’d be a quiet day (not saying they talk a lot, saying that there would be significantly fewer people here), but things would get done, and the work that didn’t get done would still be here

Completely agreed on that front. I hate nothing more than when someone thinks I’m being over sensitive for unfriending people over political disagreements. Literally 100% of the time i do it it’s because I found out the hard way that the offender is a horrible person.

The longer I stay on facebook in these dark times, the smaller my circle gets. I’m absolutely livid I wasted any time or energy over the years on some of these people—and these aren’t even trumpers. And before anyone comments with the old “you’re going to let political opinions ruin friendships?”—when people I have

ALSO: remember the moratorium on EVER fucking a republican. You won’t respect yourself afterwards, and they won’t respect you, period.

Since Trump apparently doesn’t or can’t read the best defense we can offer is better educated youth to combat his stupidity. Sending them to jail is wrong.

I think jail time would be much more likely to hurt than help. We should be focused on rehabilitation in our justice system, not retribution.

Honestly, this type of sentence should be pervasive in the justice system, and be for kids and adults. Turns out, putting people into an overcrowded (torture) box that is prison isn’t the best idea to rehabilitate criminals. In fact, they get worse! I’m also reminded of some new prison-to-college pipelines that

Id really like if more of the juvenile justice system were things like this. Throwing kids into detention centers rarely makes them into better citizens (surprise surprise); Id much rather see a focus on service and education that helps tie kids into the community.

So it never occurred to anyone to ask the White House staff how to turn on the lights?
