Dave Filoni is a Lucas-Worshipping Hack™

Hip hop’s use of sampling in the late 70s and early 80s was essential to the genre’s emergence as an art form. Similarly, the use of AI in artistic pursuits is a tool for artists to create groundbreaking works. Like sampling, AI should be viewed as a tool that enhances traditional methods and allows for new levels

Your comment doesn’t have near enough stars.

A friend of mine used to run a Public Access Station in the aughts. Then everyone got a video camera in their phone and access to Youtube and guess what he doesn’t do any more?

‘It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.’ Upton Sinclair

There is also a gate-keeping quality to the anti-AI arguments.  I would love to create my own animated movies by importing text into an AI, but the professionals depend on the pre-AI paradigm to pay the bills.

Well played!  I wish the writing on Picard was a tenth as good.

My favorite comment of the thread!  Cheers!

I was hoping it was the aliens from the season one episode “Conspiracy”.  Oh, well.

I like your comment more than the article. The writers of Discovery and Picard don’t understand what Star Trek is on a fundamental level.

They always take their space helmets off on alien worlds which causes problems they wouldn’t otherwise have.  No amount of CGI spectacle will cover up the idiot ball that breaks my suspension of disbelief.

Agreed. I think Filoni is too obsessed with pleasing George Lucas to do anything new. Any time I see an interview with the guy he is always salivating about what a genius Lucas is. And if Lucas hadn’t told him that Grogu needed to be trained, we wouldn’t have gotten the deviation of Luke taking Grogu that ended up goin

Yes, but where will the viewers go who hated Star Trek and only watched Discovery?

Our long national nightmare is over.

I, for one, welcome our AI overlords.  Our current, human-based overlords are narcissists who think cruelty is a sport.

Incorrect.

Sounds like a Filoni self-insert.
