That’s why I come here less and less often. Too much editorializing, not enough fact based information presented. Some of the writers are much better about this than others.

Currently GM designs their own powertrains, which contain about 12,000 unique components, require emissions certification, and a shit ton of other engineering effort, that simple does not exist in the world of electric vehicles. Someone who is an expert in powertrain hardware design, probably does not have the skill se…
All sedans must start with an F, so Ford Florence it is
Here is a reasonable car brought to you by socialism
The ONLY way this could be adopted would be if the AEB provided additional brake pressure over what the driver was already commanding based on an imminent collision, and even then I would say odds of it providing more benefit than harm are limited at best.
5th Gear: Moving the auto show to June would be perfect, especially if they can pull it off during the Indy Dual in Detroit. You already have all the media in town for the race, and what better backdrop for Dodge to Unveil the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Lucifer’s Hemorrhoid with 2000 HP and even more torques.
But in this example, they show a set speed of 38mph, which most would not consider “high speed driving”. We also do not know if the driver hit the brakes after contact of not, but in this scenario, the lead vehicle did not make a truly evasive maneuver, and the system should have reacted and stopped before hitting the…
Except with AutoPilot, you can set the distance gap, and the shortest gap is somewhere in the neighborhood of 0.7 seconds. The system has been rolled out with operational boundaries which are way to aggressive for this type of system, which will inherently lead to catastrophe. Tesla did this to Tesla.
Nope, just a shitload of windows...
100% this!
Government taxes fossil fuels used for transportation -> Consumer buys said fuel to transport themselves.
Just out of curiosity, how many total cars have rear-ended firetrucks on the highway in 2018, and how many Tesla’s with autopilot engaged have hit firetrucks? I don’t know the former, but the latter is 2. Seems like a fairly large object to not be detected.
Which is hotter, burning magnesium, or Carla Bayron?
It will be interesting to see how this translates to Lincoln (remember them?). How long before the Continental and MKZ are also put to pasture?
I would like to commend Kristen Lee for her exceptional Morning Shift reports. It’s refreshing to read these daily rundowns, with pure objective reporting. There are plenty of other area’s of this website, for editorial commentary, but in my humble opinion, this is not one of them. Kudos to you!
Kudo’s on being one of the first people to be openly objective about the proposed tariffs. One key element that is under reported is the statement Trump made about fairness in tariffs. Example, Germany imposes a 10% tariff on US vehicles it imports, but we only impose a 2.5% tariff on theirs. If they play ball, and…
Fuck California! That is all
This only hold true on soft, deformable surfaces. Perform the same test on ice, and the 4wd vehicle will spin like a top and the 2wd will track straight. On snow, sand, dirt, gravel, ect... the locked wheel builds up material in front of the tire, increasing the effective mu for the surface, the longer the wheel…
No, they were 2 mode parallel hybrids, which was the strongest hybrid system GM offered at the time. It could operate on electric power only, during low speed, low demand conditions (i.e. creeping up in speed in traffic below 20mph). It was the exact same system deployed in the Tahoe’s and Yukons. Now in the early…
