Actually, I looked into this a few months ago. I took a look at FOX's track record with genre shows vis-a-vis the other three networks.

The difference between those two movies is that Mario Puzo, the guy who wrote the script to Superman as well as wrote the Godfather, understands subtlety. David Goyer does not.

I'm convinced that Man of Steel was written to get the audience to resent Superman so we'll cheer when Batman somehow lands a decisive court victory in Batman V. Superman.
