I don't think barcode scanner belongs on here any more. In addition to the things that Goggles does that got it on this list, it also scans barcodes. I would say it does a much better job of it than the dedicated app too.

"7. Require a two-year contract to buy it, tethering its money-draining corpse to you long after it's obsolete."
Using QuickSSHd as an sftp server seems like a better way to do this. The key benefit is that root isn't needed for it to work. Beyond just transferring files, QuickSSHd also allows you do do all of the other things that SSH allow you to do on your phone. The app also has a help section that does a really good job of…

@NanorH: Android already has it's own version of instant
@bowei437: That's why there's a source link at the end of the article...
Before people criticize Lifehacker for promoting piracy, I'd like to add that there is no reason this can't be used for completely legal filesharing. The designer even says that he uses his to distribute legal things only.
@Goaliegeek2: Madden, NBA games, Medal of Honor. I can't think of any others (just because I don't know who publishes what), but those three account for a huge portion of the games sold in the US.
@phijef: He's saying that it isn't free on the PS3 anymore. I wasn't aware it ever was.
@0suited: It's got 3G data and Sony seems to prefer GSM so I'm guessing it's got a SIM slot.
This looks awesome. Too bad it's no doubt going to retail for $500 or more.
That looks even less comfortable to hold than a DS3. Other than that, this thing looks pretty amazing.
Great write-up. I don't see myself ever getting a tablet since I already have a smartphone and laptop, but these changes do look pretty awesome. I just hope that they come to the smartphone Android too.
Thanks, Whitson! This stuff will be really helpful to me.
@CloserDivision: You have to admit there are some strong similarities between the two. Both are wide open and you spend a lot of your time killing people for no reason (or at least I do). It's also fun just to call it "Grand Theft Saddle" for those reasons alone. I will agree that RDR is the better of the two by far…
Awesome, I totally agree. RDR is one of the best games I've ever played and easily bested anything else last year (even considering how much time I wasted on Black Ops).
@cmonty06: Mass Effect 2 was at the time. It only became a PS3 game once 2011 rolled around.
This looks perfectly legit to me...if I completely ignore the stylus. I simply can't see Sony shipping their new PSP with a anything less than a capacitive screen like the PS phone will have.
@rondalescott: It works fine for me...
@ddmeightball: Sorry, but there is no valid comparison between the Xoom and current-gen iPads. The Xoom isn't even out yet, and the iPad is about 9 months old. By the time the iPad 2 comes out, the Xoom's specs probably won't look all that great. Apple's pricing will be much more competitive also.
