It looks pretty awesome. Unfortunately, Sony is the company setting the price. Thus, it will be cost far more than anyone is going to want to pay and Sony will move very few devices for the first couple of years. By then, not only will it be too late to regain the market share, but the specs will no longer be so…

@Oranges w/Cheese: WaveSecure is capable of locking, tracking, remotely wiping, remotely setting off an alarm, and backing up your phone. It's not free, but I like knowing that my data and phone are secured. I know there are others too, but WS is the one I use.

Don't the iOS devices come with encryption too? I remember reading that the 3G has software encryption and that the 3GS and 4 have it built into the hardware. That seems like the most secure thing to do to me.

@Jason: All of the iOS devices do this by themselves. After a few attempts, the time in between will climb up to 15 minutes or more.

@das7002: Not all of Java is open source though from what I understand. The JRE is open source, but apparently certain other aspects aren't. I don't know the details, but those aspects are what I believe are the root of this fight.

I think Andy Rubin might be in a bit of trouble with his boss. He was no doubt the one who was overseeing the development of Android (and the inclusion of many of these files) before the company was bought by Google.

I think the most important factor when choosing an Android phone is support by CyanogenMod. The DroidX and Galaxy S phones may be very nice phones , but that matters little to me if I can't do what I would like to do with them since there is no support by CM.
