@Canon7D-Fanboy: Nah, they've already admitted to it. And they could just trumpet it as a significant improvement to "the same problem everyone in the smartphone industry suffers from."

Pretty clever actually! Though on an iPhone 4, replacing the touchscreen is a bit more of a chore (I wouldn't attempt it just yet).

And a short video illustrating how this happens with a rolling shutter:

I can't really see how it's different from a regular keyboard. Is it just a chicklet, or is there something like code that ignores a simultaneous keypress above another key?

It's called a rolling shutter, and is how all CMOS capture handles. If you think that's freaky, check out CMOS pictures/videos of spinning airplane propellers.

@mnerd: We should have them print our money over in China, too. It'd probably be way cheaper than doing it domestically, and there's virtually no way to abuse the system as long as we just count the bills when they come in to ensure none were stolen.

I've so often wondered if this very scenario ever happens. Thanks Gizmodo for providing closure and vindication!

@valkilmerisawful: "If the genome doesn't know what kind of machine it's building, then I'd wonder, which came first? The genome or the machine?"

@valkilmerisawful: It was a bit hard to follow his argument, but I think the gist is this:

@malaklaze: "the other seems to underestimate the power of computers."

Neat facts. That infographic could use some work though, there are definitely some parts of it that make you hunt around to understand the meaning.

She heard the Russian president got a free iPhone 4 when he visited.

@ThomasWolfSwe: No sweat! Photography stuff really is great, and with digital, it's a bona fide gadget heaven too. Lots of new ideas, and surprisingly, a lot of old ideas that are coming back in vogue.

@ThomasWolfSwe: There are no weird optics or light-bending going on here. It's just an angled EVF, much like any modern camera with an articulating LCD (DSLR or otherwise). The sensor is still perfectly in-line with the lens.

Man drives 12k miles to write a message across the continent. It says "Read Ayn Rand." At least crazy is consistent.

@FlyingAvocado: Nah. He's using a GoPro, which has a ridiculous field of view, and can probably see the sharks from the surface since they're not very deep. Also, you can see the improper focus of the GoPro underwater due to the uncorrected dome port, so the "faked footage" would have to have been taken with the same

Huh. Doesn't look like Apple aesthetics to me.
