Age of Empires had another significant advantage over most failed RTS competitors: the absolute best, most user-friendly scenario editor. Warcraft III’s scenario editor was more expansive and powerful, but also more difficult to get a handle on. Still, both games enjoyed tremendous, long lasting success, and I think

NPR ran a feature on this or very similar game, with computer AIs programmed with different strategies playing against one another. They ran the sim thousands of times. The strategy that ended up winning out was the one that copied the opponent’s last action.

I loved Setsuna’s aesthetics and presentation, I wish it hadn’t been the first game in the series. If only it could have benefited from all the improvements Lost Sphear is looking to make.

Not a surprise. Phero has already been banned by Smogon because of its extreme stat spread and versatility- its Z-move countersets were becoming popular before it was banned.

Looking forward to this.

It’s a generic Japanese word meaning “there, other side, yonder” and has been used as a given name in Japan for ages (and in typical Japanese fashion, its meaning as a name changes depending on which kanji is used).

I think I’ve put in 500+ hours into Minecraft since the last time I touched survival. There’s definiately two fundamental ways to play the game- a kind of clunky survival adventure, and my prefered way, digi-Legos.

My expectation is Journey with puzzles, not a high bar.

Dear God Allen, you were a superstar and a class act for us, and now you’re showing your gaming cred- true role model.

Re:Create reminds me of Brian O’Nolan’s “At Swim Two Birds”.

What’s better, Deluge or Drought?

Yoshis Island was rereleased for th gba though.

Well, Jet Force Gemini had horrible controls and awkward combat, unlike Banjo/DK64. I don’t think it’s fair to lump that one with the others.

The argument “banning legendaries would only allow a new tier of strong pokemon to develop” presumes there’s a similar power gap between those 2nd tier Pokemon and the average Pokemon, but that’s not the case. Pokemon doesn’t easily lend itself to optimization, and beneath the legendaries is a large and diverse

RPGs have this incessant problem with their weaponry. Perhaps they need to take a leaf from FPS games, where they’ve perfected the inventory loop. If the goal is to constantly force a change in held weaponry, then slim the player’s inventory down, and provide actual combat advantages/disadvantages between different

All the Mario RPG parades were great. Expected to see at least one up here, if not all of them lumped together.

Like others point out, there is an upside down the road. Sometimes way down the road. My dad was never much a gamer, and his job had him living separetely from us for long periods. He said he missed not being there when I struggled through high school. A few years ago, he out of the blue became very invested in ps4

The truth of competitive Pokemon is that you can play for the super-majority of the match with a better strategy and better choices, and then lose because of a single low-percentage chance happening. The flinch mentioned in the third game probably was the difference between a win and a loss.

Smash Mouth’s All Star being mated with Pokemon was a meme originating from the pokemon board of 4chan.
