I'd argue it's pretty reasonable to expect more from people behind the wheel of 4,000lbs of steel, given that the likelihood of a driver dying due to a pedestrian collision is basically nil, while the reverse is not.

As a pedestrian, I‘ve literally never had an issue with vehicles turning right on red. That's because I'm an intelligent human being who understands that it's important to make eye contact with the driver of that vehicle, or otherwise ensure that they are clearly not going to start moving when I step in front of them.

I will defend the left turn arrow. No it’s not warranted at every single intersection, but it is really necessary in certain spots where you would probably need to sit through 4 or 5 light cycles before you could even hope to get a gap.

Normally, I’d agree. But it seems like this article is yet another anti-car hit piece from this supposedly driving orientated magazine. Why do you hate cars and driving so much, Jalopnik?

100%

Nah, leave it up to local municipalities to make their call. I’ve had countless hours of my life wasted yearly due to having to wait at intersections at red lights where absolutely zero cars passed through the intersection for the entirety of the light cylce as I was waiting for green. I’d add ban the bs left turn

Cruise control. I have never liked it. Every now and then I’ll turn it on while on a trip, but after 10 minutes or so I turn it off. The newer ones, with the radar that slows you down and speeds you back up when you change lanes, is better. But I still don’t like it.

Built in Navigation on any car, unless it’s carplay/android auto, but that’s more on your phone than built in...

The turn signal.

I was agreeing with you. ‘Lighten up’ comment was about the judgmental writing, as applied to other related topics

The idea that all of the people at Burning Man are rich a$$holes really gets to me. My daughter, her boyfriend and the rest of their “tribe” are anything but. They are both members of the “Dustfish” group which is made up of many of the original “Burners” and believe me, many times they don’t have two pennies to rub

Gotta stop this whole burning man is for the rich thing. Yes, there are people with money out there, lots of them. But the majority are just regular people, in a van, a rented RVs, people car camping. But the camps and tech bros whatever the fuck that is, get the attention.
This is not a rich sport. Tickets are

What’s a few extra grand for something you really want?

Fart can mufflers or crackle exhaust on an otherwise stock car. Just more noise to annoy everyone around you.

By far the biggest waste of money people put on vehicles are the mods diesel truck owners do so they can Roll Coal.

While you may have been correct on that diagnosis if that wing was making meaningful downforce (a lot of those cheap wings do not), the problem with putting a bunch of rear downforce only in the front has zero to do with whether the car is front wheel drive.

I think we can mostly agree on supid mods like blacked out headlights, slammed cars/squatted trucks, etc. But they’re for a specific visual taste so even if they’re factually wrong they’re not wrong in that “community.”

Let’s stance/lower a car, removing most of the utility of the vehicle... and now every pebble is a road hazard. Every speed bump is an impassable barrier.

Anything that promises easy fuel saving or other easy benefits. Especially if it’s “install it yourself.”
