Checker Motors - this company was focused on building taxi cabs that stood the test of time. Not only were their cars iconic, but they were reportedly of very solid build, able to take a beating. There is something to be said for cars that are relatively inexpensive, built tough, easily serviced, and able to stand up

Came here to post this car, leaving satisfied. These are so cool, and they sound so fantastic, I wouldn’t wish the ownership experience of these cars on my worst enemy. From what I gather, no matter what you do, they spend far more days in the shop than they could on the road...it sounds like mostly pure misery before

Clearly, that writer fell for the idea that more gears = more performance.  I’m sure that there’s an engineering manager somewhere that is reading that and rubbing their hands together in victory.

So much this...but there are lots of people who apply the term ‘communism’, ‘socialism’, or ‘fascism’ to mean “anything that I don’t like...and I can’t define it, but I know it when I see it...and don’t tell me to take a political science course!”

Sorry dude - my bad.  Maybe I will lighten up ;)

No, I’m gonna continue to call it like I see it. It’s poor writing and I don’t need to “lighten up” about it. This is exactly what the comments section is for.

It’s bad, judgmental writing.  Jalopnik has gone downhill.  Does Jalop characterize racing as events for rich douchebags?  They can do better, but choose not to.

It’s pretty weak to call arbitrage “greed”. Arbitrage is perhaps the oldest trick in business - buy for one, sell for two. Speculation isn’t greed. Folks who speculate on a product get it wrong sometimes - and that’s part of the inherent risk.

It doesn’t matter - it’s still an inappropriate judgment to make and degrades this writers credibility.  These writers can do better.

I couldn’t agree more and came here to post this. The article complains about “the rich” at least twice, and it’s a lame and unfounded judgment of attendees. Even if it is somehow true (which is isn’t) that everyone at the festival is “rich”, it’s just a divisive judgment that degrades from the credibility of Jalop’s

Ooh, can the EPA do this to Denver shops next?  Lots of people here rolling some thick coal.

Downforce on the rear of a FWD car reduces understeer? Hmmm...not sure how that works.

    Presented without comment:

Hahaha - this is amazing. I wrote Tacoma instead of 4Runner, but our list is basically the same. Could adjust the list to show Taco/4Runner.

It’s a fact: Upon completing your first year of living in Denver, CO - new residents are automatically issued a stickered water bottle, a dog, and their choice of the following cars:

Crazy - I spun my clutch in 4th gear with a simple JB1 update. There are several clutch update packages. The Southbend clutch replaced the dual-mass flywheel with a single mass unit, and sounds like a tractor at idle. There’s also an RSR clutch kit that retains the factory flywheel, and I think that it’s based on the

I hope that he did well in the sale, as I have a car just like it. That said, the asking price is very much on the high side, especially for a modified car (and make no mistake, modifications of this nature usually detract from the value).

I’m glad that I’m not the only one in this boat. I had a B7 S4 Avant (with a stick), and as that got older I ended up buying a new Golf R. The S4 just didn’t appeal in the same way, especially as the Avant was no longer offered in the US market.

It would seem that you’re misunderstanding the quote. An accident on a CarFax search can absolutely mean that the title is still clean. Accident damage does not always have an effect on the title status. Generally, a branded title means that the car has a salvage title (or lemon, odometer rollback, etc).

It helps me to remind myself that I’m part of the traffic.
