I’ve had all three of these, and they’re vastly better than all-season tires in the snow. It’s really like night-and-day...an ideal winter tire for the weather that we get in the Washington DC area, where it is often cold, but we do not typically see much snow. When it does snow and/or get icy, they still work fairly

I think that you have this wrong. When it comes down to performance at low temperature, the compound actually matters more than tread pattern- even in the dry. A winter tire at zero degrees F will grip better in dry pavement than an all-season at that same temperature.

It appears to be a quasi-marketing gimmick from Nokian (who really do know something about making great snow tires): More info here.

I live in the DC area, have AWD, and still put winter tires on my car. I put them on every year, not waiting for a massive snow storm. The difference in performance on snow between even a basic winter tire and an all-season is staggering - this video demonstrates the differences:

Yes it does make sense. I live in the DC area and run winter tires. A set of snow tires on cheap wheels pay for themselves 4 times over if you avoid one fender-bender. Just because it doesn’t snow much here doesn’t mean that they’re not worth it. Winter tires perform better on cold, wet streets than all-seasons, too.

Thank you for that pointlessly politically-charged statement.

You’re looking at it all wrong. That car is perfectly camouflaged for a massive fire!

I have an R and really like it. However, from a performance perspective I believe that, this will beat the R in every way. I suspect that it will be more fun to drive too, with a better AWD system. Being a turbo-charged motor, I can’t see why it wouldn’t be fairly easily tunable. Other Ford ecoboost motors are.

Does Ferrari have a policy like this? If so, I hope for their employee’s sake that they offer fantastic employee discounts ;)

    Squids gonna squid.

I remember when I rode through no-helmet states in full gear, most non-helmeted riders wouldn’t wave. It was strange.

During the time you reviewed the bike, did all of the other Harley riders scoff at you for being out of costume (full-face helmet)?

Interesting that they drilled a hole and moved the intake to the interior. Was that for plumbing/space reasons, or just to make ridiculous intake sound on the video?

As mentioned elsewhere, while an E30 325i can’t keep up in a straight line with a new V6 Camry it most certainly doesn’t do 0-60 in 10 seconds. Well, maybe with the slushbox it does, but that’s an irrelevant metric as it’s a sports sedan.

That’s it, I’m going to sue. See you in court.

I just bought a brand new 4-door car with a manual transmission off of dealer inventory in September.

    My take-away from this story:

3: Do you really want your car’s software to need updates as often as your phone and be as quickly outdated? Keep in mind they cost considerably more than an iPhone, they should last considerably longer as well. Leave that stuff out, take advantage of aftermarket toys.

Most analog tachs are now digital/mechanical. The VW screens display a digital approximation of a mechanical tachometer. It feels artificial to me.
