Who said anything about Formula Ford? I said Spec Racer Ford (not Formula Ford) and I quoted the price for the kit which is $26.5k. I also assumed a very generous $12k for a build price, what was incorrect. The link above says that they’ll assemble it for $5k.

Spec Racer Ford. It’s not a Ford at all - it’s a purpose-built single-seat race chassis built by SCCA Enterprises with sealed motor and chassis. http://www.specracer.com/

An unassembled Spec Racer Ford is $26.5k. Even if I had to pay a builder $12k to assemble me a turnkey car, it still seems to me that it’s a better value than a new mx5 racer. And why this over spec Miata?

Ugh, this does not make me miss owning a 944. My puck exploded too...and the rubber fragments wedged themselves in a way that prevented the clutch from disengaging. This resulted in a 90 minute drive back from the autocross without the use of the clutch pedal. There were a few crunches.

I’m sure that you mean 3 liter S2. The S added a 16-valve head to the 2.5L mill, which didn’t produce much more power.

I don’t know NJ law (and I’m not a lawyer), but so much of this seems as unenforceable as a sign on the wall “management is not responsible for damage to personal property”. Certain rights cannot be signed away.

So much awesome! I love that it’s on steelies and not Fuchs, too (although they Fuchs look cool, the steelies are totally period correct).

I dunno. While the Hummer embodied everything about the FUV, they didn’t make it as a company. More to do with gas prices than the cars...but it is what it is.

Scissor doors? I’m pretty sure that’s a lambo, dude.

Photos needed. Write-up of driving experience needed.

Other than being built by Lamborghini and having a V12, what exactly was great about the LM002? It was very expensive, very heavy, very complicated, very unreliable, and came with a supercar maintenance schedule (along with the associated costs). Think about it...all of the pain of supercar maintenance with absolutely

A good point. The follow-up question is whether or not there is always enough freight cargo to fill the plane or if passenger baggage otherwise displaces that cargo. I honestly have no idea.

I just wanted an excuse to share that story. :)

    This would be totally reasonable.

What a PITA. Usually, the plane-side “valet” checking doesn’t hit the carousel. Also, whenever I fly regional carriers, I make sure that I have plenty of time to wait for my bag. Of course, it’s backfired a few times because of delays, etc.

As a guitar player, if I have to travel with a guitar, it’s coming on the plane with me. Checking a guitar often results in a damaged guitar. Musical instruments are delicate. Sometimes, it just has to be done.

They exist, if you’re willing to pay for them.

Oh, for sure...but they charge for parcels too.

You make a good point - especially with the fear & PITA factor. Further, if we all get off the plane faster, I guess that it means that we’ll be spending more time waiting for the damn carousel.
