I would absolutely drive a Pontiac G8. And the Buick Regal/GNX with the turbo-6 has street cred for sure. Same goes for the muscle car era. But I’m saying that from the 80s to the late 2000s, Buick was synonymous with very bad, cheap sedans/wagons for grandparents to float around in on their way to church. It’s a

I know that Buicks are good cars now. But there is SO MUCH history of them being for old people in the US, I can tell you it’s going to take a generation to change that. My wife (almost 40) wouldn’t be caught dead in a Buick, or the dealership for that matter. They should just call them Opels and start over.

Dude, Tom, you’re telling him to go from one of literally the most bulletproof trouble-free cars on the planet to a MINI COOPER? That’s just MEAN. He doesn’t know how it feels to spend $1000 every other month keeping the CEL turned off.

I’m not saying I agree with that - just stating my thoughts on why VW probably won’t bother bringing this here. Based on historical data (click here), the very best year of the Eurovan was 2002 and it still didn’t even sell 7,000 units. For comparison, the Chrysler Town & Country of the same year sold almost 20x as

It’s true that there are a handful of people in the US that would buy these...I just suspect they did the math for crash testing and decided it wasn’t worth it.

They won’t sell this here for the same reason they stopped selling the EuroVan. Our highways require way more power than what VW wants to put in here, and people don’t want to spend this kind of money on something like this. I suspect these might find their way here through conversion-van-style RV companies, but other

If you share a car with a spouse and switch settings frequently, power seats with memory is a GODSEND.

I’d be down for a “basic” 911 (912). My kids could still ride in the back.

Soooooo...am I the only person thinking a revival of the 912 with the Cayman/Boxster turbo-4 might be really interesting? Think manual-only...plaid cloth seats...minimal frills...18" Fuchs-inspired wheels....

Wrong. The worst damage is a broken hood release cable. Or gas door release cable. This is just one handle and there are four more doors on that SUV....

Long loans at low rates aren’t necessarily always a bad decision. Frankly, if this means you have more cash in your pocket to allow you to invest in something that pays a higher rate, then you’re net positive. Also, if you plan on keeping the car a long time (i.e. it’s something you really like), then that’s even more

This would be an AWESOME goof around car for sub-$10k. But at $20k (probably after negotiating), you could’ve bought some other pretty interesting things with that money....CP

yeah, this is cool...but still. There are plenty of interesting 4x4 options at $27k. Maybe not Xterras, but other options.

In modern cars with a big TV screen on the dash, why can’t it just tell me exactly what the fault is, in plain English? Why do I need a dongle and an OBD-II reader? This makes no sense.

Only 8 seconds if you have the tire pressures set right and can keep it away from the curbs.

I *think* they are talking about a small SUV with the Voltec driveline?

The Volt is truly a great car. I am an evangelist. And it’s frankly AMAZING in traffic. Just slap it in “L” and drive with one foot, no brakes needed (mostly). On the other hand, when not in traffic on a sunny summer weekend, I really miss hooning a basic 5-speed.

Maybe Musk will fit a manual to a Roadster just for fun.

Yeah, I’ve seen that, but you can basically drive from zero to full speed in any gear...it’s not the same. I want the feeling of actually engaging the clutch and running through the gears. I suppose I’ll have to get an old timey gas-powered Miata one of these days.

A manual transmission is the thing I miss MOST when driving my Volt. I know it doesn’t need one, but I think a manual trans in an electric car would be great.
