Those are great reasons. And it doesn’t look good. And the low driving position is not an asset for many people, especially women. My wife likes to sit way up high and get a commanding view of everything from her perch in our giant Suburban. She begrudgingly drives my Volt too.
Good article. Lots of good points. Still a hard NO from me and my better half.
I had an obsession with Bugs in my high school years. I planned to get my hands on a 1968/69 (wanted IRS) and do everything to it. Big block. Dual carbs. Fuchs. Lowered. Cleaned. It would’ve been great. Then I drove a Bug (a decent one) and realized it was a horrible car to drive and I barely fit in the…
I love it. Honestly, the shifting is the part I miss most...clutch, not so much. And paddles are NOT the same thing.
Really? I had no idea. I knew about the others, but not the Mondial. Wow.
I think having a gated shifter with a robotic clutch would be amazing. Like the old VW manumatic but way better.
I think this car should’ve died loooooong ago. For many reasons.
Back in the day, working as a porter at a VW/Audi dealer in south Denver, we referred to these as “G-shitties”. The name was there for a reason.
These Z32 ‘verts were ugly when new and still ugly now. CP no matter what.
1990 Integra LS hatch 5spd. Marino Red Pearl over gray cloth. Perfect car taken from me in a Chicago snowstorm by an idiot in a Sentra. Still miss it.
RST in Suburban size please.
With cars being increasingly internet/GPS connected, why can’t these nannies just be turned off when the car is known to be on a track? It seems like there is a way to work through this.
I’m only saying that it will be a challenge to get people to plunk down big money for a minivan. A restomod Voyager of Singer quality would be around $75-100k...your hand-built projects prove my point.
Except it’s still a minivan. Who would spend the money? The only people buying these are car nuts? It *has* to be a sporting/luxury car for this to work.
My eyes are rolling out of my head just like my 10-year-old. I’m *not* suggesting that you need to stop your car if a cop is on the side of the road doing something. But if a cop is driving less than the speed limit and you pass them, it’s completely likely that you *will* get a ticket and you *will* lose in court. …
OK - so you can come up with a strange reason to refute my position? You sound like my 10 year old. The point is that passing a cop is ASKING for a ticket. This advice is as old as dirt. You just don’t do it.
You passed an officer. You lost right there.
Having dealt with two kids and car seats and all that, I can tell you that this is exactly why people end up driving mid-size or larger SUVs. Rear facing monster car seats absolutely destroy the cabin space of smaller cars. The only way I could make it work in my Mazda Protege5 was to have the rear facing seat on…
