Good. This needs to return to being the norm, and the TSA needs to slowly be reduced in influence. Most of what they do is highly unnecessary and invasive.

Reality is that even today, you can buy perfectly acceptable transportation for around $20K, which most people could pay off easily in 3-4 years. But nobody wants those cars, they want the $40-50K and up loaded fancy cars and pickup trucks. That they don’t need, they just want. Which is perfectly fine as long as they

If you want a cheap, reliable, low-operating-cost commuter vehicle, you could do a lot worse than this thing. I’ll give it a NP.

Those programs have since ended, bringing those owners to a harsh reality. Those same 200,000 people who took advantage of the program, are now 60 days delinquent on their auto loans, according to TransUnion. Another 100,000 loans are also 60 days delinquent but are in similarly designed accommodation programs that

these are nickel metal hydride, they don’t wear out as fast as li-ion in your cell phone.
having said that though, after 20 years, ni-mh cells will probably be near the end of their life, too- replacement batteries are $1-2k so not super cheap but not that bad, either.

Perhaps a massive wave of repossessions will help with the low inventory.

I’ve owned a 2006 Prius for fifteen years now and have put new shocks and a brake tune into it. Maybe $1500 total. Thing runs like a microwave. Push the button, beep beep.

I think you’re wrong here. Yeah it’s super boring and looks pretty ugly, but it’s a nice price for a daily driver/winter car/beater.

In general, the Toyota Prius is one of the most reliable cars on the road.  So despite having two propulsion systems, very little seems to go wrong.

$3500 and throw in a "BERNIE 2016" bumper sticker.

It’s not sexy, but if you need cheap, reliable, fuel-efficient transportation, you could do a hell of a lot worse than a 5-grand Toyota.  NP.

Looks like there ARE cops with morals

That torque though. What’s frustrating is that it wasn’t always this way. There was a time when diesel was always cheaper at the pump than petrol in the US.

As a former lot attendant, you always make yourself aware of gas/diesel/premium requirements. (Just read the gas cap/door.) I’m surprised an auto-reviewer wouldn’t be in the same habit.

This is hilarious. How can you call yourself a gearhead, let alone an automotive journalist? My immediate reaction is that you should be fired. Obviously, that’s ridiculous, but I really question anybody calling you an authoritative journalistic source after this. I get the sense that I know a lot more about, well,

I think the idea behind this, is if you have a diesel vehicle, you likely know you have a diesel vehicle and know to always put diesel in it. On the other hand, I know a lot of people that drive gasoline cars that may not even know the diesel exists, or why there is a green handle on the station.

Somebody had to say it, thanks.

(It’s not fine)

Also how is this under Wrenching?

I am not aware of a single legacy engine company on earth which is working with any of these companies. Airframes are easy, engines are hard. Developing supersonic engines that have a meantime between overhaul that commercial companies can afford will take $Billions. So far, a replacement engine for the F-35 is
