They’re gonna be driving those tanks and flying those planes around regardless of the parade. US servicemen have like 10x actual hands-on time compared to NATO. This is gonna be just their usual exercises, except done on parade grounds instead of a firing range.

Quantity has a quality all its own.

Actually, shermans had lower death rates than german tanks due to having larger hatches for the crew, so they could evac easier. The gas engine was a slight problem, but tanks try to avoid getting shot in the back anyway. The sherman did feature sloped armor, a significant upgrade for tanks of the time. The gun was

Eh. Honestly I think it’s gonna be pretty sweet.

“I can legally drive in the state of Illinois.”

A video of the crash can teach those of us who ride what caused the mistake that lead to his death, so we can hopefully avoid a similar fate.

I know right? It’s only been like 12 hours. I doubt anyone has had time to upload it.

And I’m not sure how rapid it is.  This train only runs a handful of times a day.

If you can’t learn the basic streets around where you live, you shouldn’t be driving - or voting- or breeding.

FTFY

There is an over-reliance on technology, especially when it comes to navigating. I’m just as guilty as most of you when it comes to simply plugging my destination into my phone and blindly following the directions.

You’re asking this of people who drove onto a fucking dirt road trying to get to an airport?

The boom operator no longer has a big window out back to directly view the receiver.  Now he sits in a phone booth up front wearing 3D goggles and does everything by camera.  That’s the biggest issue.  However, there are lots of little missteps (trash and tools, basic layout for cargo) that also should have been fixed.

So did CP Bernd Kai von Hoesslin. Who is he? A guy who flew for Ethiopian Airlines and begged them to change their training after the Lion Air crash. And begged. And begged.

Well ladies and gentlemen, what you saw there was a very good example of a non-stabilized approach which in commercial aviation should have resulted in a go-around.

... To use to keep our own fleet of trash Harriers flying until the F-35 came on line.

It’s not only greed, but also stupidity and gullibility that is part of this equation.  You give program managers (O-6 and above) way too much credit for being smart from an engineering and technological standpoint.  They rely on the “smart” guys and gals to give the right answers, but sometimes they are on the vendor

This jet will be around for decades, right? And it will continuously be improved with the Mk2, Mk3, Mk4 variants?

Yet somehow they are perfectly fine for active operations and deployment.
