9 was IMO bad. Had it’s moments but overall I disliked a lot of characters (what the fuck is Quina, seriously), and I would gladly play 7, 8, 10, 12, or 15 instead of it for single player games in PlayStation era. 13 was a garbage fire, so 9 is above it in my rankings, but not by a ton.

Gameplay-wise FFV was great and highly innovative, but the story and characters were just painfully uninteresting. I simply can’t get into a Final Fantasy game that doesn’t have a good narrative, and this one had quite possibly the worst in the entire series.
