As someone who works in education I’d love to see a series on Luke’s evolving cognitive development when he realizes he can utilize the values he learned from the Jedi but also make his own moral structure and realize when they were dead wrong. Of course we all know it’s doomed to fail, but it would be nice to see if

Grogu steps forward, lifts his little robe, and urinates on both lightsaber and chainmail shirt.

Yeah, it’s unfortunately more of the style here (and to be fair, most sites that even bother to still do recaps on the internet). I’m not knocking the writer as it’s clearly what L.A.V.Club wants, but we’re a ways away from VanDerWerff’s Mad Men reviews.

The digitally de-aging in this episode was much improved over last season’s interlude. It was past the uncanny valley for me this time.

To be fair, when he was a teen he did trash Logan’s prized Ferrari.

I mean the whole point of not getting vaccinated is to die of the easily-preventable disease, but they just don’t seem to be doing it.

Good news: They’re not getting rid of anything good.

I think if they do a Dark Tower series, that they should get the team that animated Tales of the Black Freighter and make it. It would be a much better show if it was animated rather than if it was live action.

i was done when she revealed that wizards poop on the floor and just magic it away. it was a real ‘huh, now that you mention it, harry potter is actually trash that i don’t want’ moment

Was anyone else done with Harry Potter forever after the last movie? I was just done with that “universe” when the credits rolled like that chapter of my life was over. No desire to watch or read the series again, to ever see the play, and to watch the Fantastic Beasts movies. This was before JK Rowling’s TERFness was

So did Mulaney repeat his SNL bit that it didn’t matter who you voted for? That was really funny and sweet.

John Mulaney IS Vincent Adultman.

That's a bingo!

If Rey and Kylo were this trilogy’s idea of developed characters, I don’t think he missed out on much.

Johnson and Trevorrow at least tried to give Finn stuff to do and having him lead a stormtrooper revolt would have been a terrific culmination for that character.  Yeah, episode 9 is a flaming trash pile because Abrams is total shit as a screenwriter.

Lucas didn’t think he’d get a second film and I doubt he had any idea where he’d go if he did, but perhaps he did plan that bit of incest, and more.  I don’t know. But there were five more films.

Agreed. I thought the background for his character in TFA was easily the most original and compelling, and Boyega brought energy and charm to that character. And then instead of being about something new Star Wars was just about the same two families of people it had always been about, which I should’ve seen coming

His original comments were only in September? God, what even is time anymore?

Lucas mapped out nothing.

In fact, in the Dual of the Fates script, Finn actually has an arc and leads a Stormtrooper revolt on Corousant. And JJ and Terrio decided to throw that out so that they could fit the unfortunate implication that Palpatine fucks.
