Though I would be surprised if they were as open-door as you described since overall immigration levels are determined and enforced…

Not sure what the aversion is to merit / points-based immigration. We’ve had it here in Canada for over 50 years and it certainly hasn’t resulted in a huge skew towards “white immigrants”.

Perhaps the system results in wealthier, better-educated immigrants, but more importantly it brings in folks with the highest…
