I don't think he is a bigot, you guys are missing the point. What he is saying about the teachings of Islam is true. As a person that has spent many years in an islamic republic and read the Koran, he isn't entirely wrong. Have you read the Koran? It is a book of exceptions and vengeance. Justice should be served

Not all bears, indeed. But the torturer has been working there for years, collecting a huge salary paid by California taxpayers, and there has been no sustained effort to kick him out. The man wrote the rulings legitimizing torture. Berkeley should have shown a bit more resolve.

Being critical of a backwards religion isn't racism, or everyone on kinja would be racist.

Honestly, people especially on this website complain about misogyny and whatnot, but Arabic/Islamic culture is 10x more misogynistic than Western culture. Your sister seems lucky, many of the arab men I have seen do not treat women in a way that would be acceptable to most of us.

Woah if you are really going to go there, Christianity in general is centuries ahead of Islam in general. In most Islamic countries it is extremly illegal to be gay, I'm sure gay people in Tehran would gladly have some Christians picket their funeral if it meant they got to live free and marry. Second how many

He has said things about all religions, but calling him racist because of his opinions about one is fairly extreme all itself.

When I read about white leftists defending brown conservatives in ways that they never would defend white conservatives solely because of being on their own not-racist ego trip, it makes me want to retch. Maher makes my nose wrinkle but he is criticizing theocracy because HE CAN, whereas apostates are killed every day

I was incensed about that when I was a student there. They justified it with the standard "academic freedom blah blah blah". However, it was awesome seeing "WANTED FOR WAR CRIMES: John Choon Yoo" posters on posts and buildings on a regular basis.

Well, he may have worded it a bit harsh but someone has to call them out on some of their views. After all 16% of the French support ISIS and before you say this doesn't represent all Muslims, that's true, only when it comes to American Muslims. American Muslims have adapted to our culture much better than their

That sounds like most of the religions, but why quibble?

Berkeley is surely very welcoming of someone actually responsible for the physical torture of Muslims, ie John Yoo.

But I bet when they are on a road trip, Peeta will pick a freaking restaurant when it's an hour past dinner time and his and Katniss' kids are screaming their hungry heads off.

Yeah, I don't really think so. KISS was pretty dude-heavy and remains so.

I think there's a bit of a miscommunication going on though- she only "has to" make decisions because she hates every decision he makes, and feels she must control his. When men do this, it's controlling/abusive, and it sounds like she's verging on that line herself.

Hardly. We'll see a feminist autocracy long before we see any theocracy.

The war on men continues apace. I think you're going to start to see the formation of elite all-male colleges to escape from this abusive atmosphere.

Just the opposite. I am thinking critically and not taking this poll as an indicator that the sky is falling. If you can just accept the numbers they threw out, it is you who is not thinking critically.

That's the problem. The numbers don't add up and/or raise other questions that aren't being answered. How is sexual assault on a decrease, when women are being assaulted at a 20% rate? Did it used to be 40-50%? Or maybe sexual assault is on the rise, if so, why (and why are the national stats wrong)?

Exactly. Then that leads to my next point of if its only a small percentage of men committing the assaults, in this modern age with amazing communication tools, we/schools should be able to cross check the accusations and get a short list of assailants.

That poll raises some serious questions and/or is just awful. If 1/5 women are being assaulted, that implies that 1/5 men are assailants. If it is a smaller number of men, then you would think word would quickly spread about them. How are they flying under the radar? But if 73% knew their attacker, that would tend to
