They got divorced and now she is married to Diana Ross’s son!

Why can’t it be 70 all the time.

...so people are naked all the time in Texas?
Perhaps I do want to visit there.

Well, yeah. The thing is that it never gets colder than, say, 40°F where I live (it may go down to 30 in the early morning), so I don’t have much use for that part of the range and then Celsius makes more sense. Then again, it’s probs because I grew up with it.

As a person who lives in a country with Celsius: I don’t do any guessing around, and, like, I *will* dress differently if it’s 15°C outside versus 17°C. I also like that 0 and below means freezing.

Everything does that. People live where it’s hotter than your “100 degrees”.

Yeah, Louisiana and Texas are nightmarish without an AC. I can’t imagine how the rest of the SW is.
But why am I bothering commenting on an idiotic blog article that was undoubtedly written half-heartedly to meet a quota?

Seriously. I live in Miami AND I have a dust mite allergy. Ceiling fans would leave me dead of either heatstroke or asphyxiation by my own sinuses.

0 degrees farentheit is really cold. 100 degrees is really hot. How often are you measuring the temperature of boiling water?

a) i 100% agree

For people living in NYC or northward, agreed.

He’s SUCH a good interviewer. And at this point, the aura of the Howard Stern show lulls everyone into a false sense of security...then they say whatever dumb thing pops into their heads. Great radio, but it can get you in a whole mess of trouble.

  1. The rep you are calling is in a highly regulated job where their calls are probably recorded, they are scored on the quality of these calls for their job performance. If they said what they wanted to say to a rude customer they would lose their job. That makes their job very stressful because they really do want to

Great tip. I’m definitely guilty of trying to direct the conversation based on what I think I know.

Don’t be a dick. Every single problem I saw regarding bad service (well, okay, most of them some CSRs are just dicks too) from both when I did the job then when I managed the team, involved the customer being a raging dick. Screaming, shouting, swearing, threats of physical violence, etc and so on, all mean that the

The whole “dinner napkin tied on with a couple strings” look was a hell of a thing back in the day.

This isn’t going to be the most productive discussion. People don’t actually know what they want or how they can be manipulated. The customer service reps will say things which they believe to be true, but aren’t actually true. The true ways to manipulate them will be denied.

Have a clear, direct question in mind when you call. Someone called my office yesterday with no clear question in mind; “I was just told to call you guys, I don’t know why.” KNOW why you’re calling.

Best tip I can give is to let the customer service representative control the conversation. If they ask you a question, answer it. Normally background information is not needed to complete their service. Plenty of times we just want to complete the fields we need to complete and then end the call.

Be nice. I am willing to go out of my way to help someone or give them a deal if they are pleasant on the phone. I completely understand when things go wrong and customers are frustrated and a bit miffed, but you can express your frustrations without being rude or stand-offish. I am well aware that inconveniences are
