You just confirmed my theory! It really did used to be one-click cancellation on the website a few years ago! So it sounds like they’ve definitely moved onto a vendor that purposefully makes canceling difficult. And if I’d given into temptation recently, I’d be pissed if they signed me up for that sort of gym

Here’s something... I used to do JustFab (as well as Shoedazzle) back around 2010, when it was a new thing. My life became a li’l complicated about that time and I cancelled my monthly subscription, opting to buy shoes if the mood struck me instead of being shipped a pair from my “closet” once a month no matter what.

Well, unless they were walking down Red River St and a car plowed into them.

I do agree with you. To me, it had a very Rickie Lee Jones “Coolsville” vibe to it. It’s good that it shocked people. That’s real life for her, and it doesn’t shock her. It’s her story. She owns her actions. And to take that away from her because of some moral high ground runs the risk of being judgmental,

And they’re regulars, right? And they’re typically unkind to the staff? I’m asking because patterns appear to be emerging and I find that sort of thing fascinating.

I am not sure, but if I had to guess, it’s because any “security” would be a mere illusion. If something were to go wrong, nothing could control it at SXSW. Nothing. Not even a whole lotta cops— they’ve been known to make things worse. And then who would be legally liable for creating an incendiary environment where

Great point!

But as we all know too well, any hired “security” is merely an illusion. This place is a tinderbox for injury and violence with all that mob rule everywhere. It’s absolute and open lawlessness. That’s a selling point.

Or the pimps, because as we all know, to be a “pimp” means to be a really cool, stylish person with great authority over his peers and all the trappings of earned wealth.

“The event,” as many of you know, is more than just panels and audiences at a mere convention. It’s a very difficult to harness city-wide shoulder-to-shoulder mob of very drunk and very high people from all over the world that temporarily doubles a city population.

Oh my god. This really is some horrible epidemic!

I’m so, so sorry, but I’m oath-bound to ask anyone who reveals they worked at SbUX if the location they worked at had what is referred to as a “caramel lady.” If yes, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If no, disregard this comment and have a great day!

Yeah. That silver lining was awful thin to begin with.

Please don’t despair. If this story had been written from the perspective of either of the dudes in this story, it would already be an HBO pilot.

Adult coloring book, original script. I feel like coloring these pages.

Laughcrying in my cubicle. Again.

Yes, this! And also, what appears to be a traumatic life to you and me may be what someone else has witnessed since birth and accepts as daily normality. I’d bet anything their mothers’ and fathers’ lives resembled any one of the characters presented, for perhaps even a few generations.

She looks happy and safe, and I hope that’s true.

YOU ARE A GENIUS. Now I want this. Fanfic?

I am SO GLAD I’m not the only one who adores this story. It made my heart swell! Also, I call everyone a “proudy” now when they’re being high and mighty. It’s a great word.
