What I don’t understand are the non-profits that use this as some sort of fundraising tactic. Some guy just running up to me on the sidewalk and aggressively trying to engage me in conversation makes me want to run away, NOT donate.

OMG YES. Being out in public on Ash Wednesday never ceases to confuse me! Always takes me a few minutes to realize WTF is going on. Many Protestants don't observe it, including CofC (what I was raised to be.)

Not to mention, they have the everyday woman challenge on EVERY season, yet EVERY season the contestants seem baffled by it. Once again, I ask myself, DO THEY EVEN WATCH THE SHOW THEY’RE COMPETING ON?!

Since when is how someone was raised a reliable indicator of their held beliefs in adulthood?
