I’m trying to imagine the conversation of a Grampa Herta explaining this picture to his grandchildren 60 years from now... I mean for present representation, this would be like if Richard Petty wore a Dick Tracy hat back in the day after a win. [Que up the Dick Tracy google searches now]

I’d be stunned if they actually charge for it, I figured they’d put it up on youtube or something.  Racing documentaries don’t usually do well unless it’s a massive subject (i.e. Senna, McLaren, etc), the last one I took notice of was the one about Scott Dixon, “Born Racer” which came out the same year he won a

I expect it’s because there are cobblestones that they want left there for the rest of the time. This is the same country that tears up a bunch of tarmac roads every year so a pack of cyclists can race on cobblestones.

Circuit Paul Ricard is near Marseille - literally the opposite end of the country. It’s 500 miles away from Paris.

1) They do not shut down a “10 mile radius” for the race.

Reminds me of a neighbor I had a while back.
We lived about a block from a large train yard/switching area, with the constant hum and crash of bigass trains doing train things.

“So unless things have changed in the last 25+years”

In contrast to Griveaux, however, Plante’s problem with the race was that it cost millions of dollars to host—not that it was ecologically harmful or a nuisance to the neighbors.

He’s probably talking about the machines that pour and remove the tarmac.

The Formula E season has shaped up into a series of races that is as exciting and incredibly unpredictable as Formula One has been the opposite.

I do, so...

“The anti-women laws are driven by religious beliefs more than geo-political treaties” is likewise overly simple, and ignores the very geopolitical reasons the House of Saud alligned with Wahhabism in the first place (although neither France nor the UK had a hand in it to be fair to you)

Look up Afghanistan and Iran in the 1950s-60s. They’ve literally regressed centuries in the past 50 years.

Created by France and the U.K. is a bit overly simple. The anti-women laws are driven by religious beliefs more than geo-political treaties.

Hey, it took modern nations centuries to see the light. These arabian clowns have only been exposed to modernity, for what, 60 years? Give them a few more decades at least. Eventually, they will come around and see how ignorant they are.....

The average Formula 1 race has like 1 or 2 lead changes? Yet they seem to keep fans.

Ohm not sure why the resistance to F-E, I find it electrifying! I’m shocked that more fans aren’t tuning in, given the current direct flow of manufacturers energy into the series. Alternately, the capacity of our attention spans may be the limiting factor....

It is surprising how small some of the writers’ vocabularies seem to be and how often they just flat out use the wrong word.

How is this nepotism?

They’re designed for shorter, mostly street courses so races can happen close-in to city centers and major landmarks, so the cars don’t need to get to plaid.
