I love Godzilla movies, but Megalon was absolutely terrible. Not Minka level, but pretty bad.

The way Shazam works is as a bonafide kids movie. The alter ego is a kid who wants to do the right thing. I think Jeff Smith's take on the character was perfect - I'd love to see that done either as animation or live-action.

To add to the early points: I really saw film-makers embracing the visual aspect of movie making. It sounds silly that it's taken over a hundred years for many directors to "get" that movies are visual. But movies like Gravity and even Pacific Rim work best as film and especially on the larger scale screens.

Well, that was terrible. Maybe it was the video sound quality, but it sounded half-hearted and they all sounded bored. In some shots of the group there are clearly several kids not even singing.

I like the Gary Larson and Gurewitch tributes do a great job with the humor style, too.

Me too.

I do much of that stuff on the graphic thing up there. Measure the oil and such. Brine the bird and pat dry with paper towels. It's easy to mess up, but it's also easy to do right. Make sure the bird is totally thawed - you don't want any pockets of ice causing the oil to pop.

Dammit. I just saw this was an epic troll. You can notch that belt for me as well.

Wait - so Big Pharma is motivated solely by money?

He's so unrecognizable in Fifth Element - great actor all around.

No, no no, see, Clark Kent wears glasses. Superman DOESN'T wear glasses.

I think the first point puts it best - they aren't very good. It's what kept Superheroes out for a long while (along with special effects); it was hard to make a really good movie.

True, but I also doubt they were trying to pay homage to the genre. It's a farce with the mission statement: These movies are ridiculous. Compare that to something like Young Frankenstein which is also a bit of a farce, but revels in the atmosphere of the movies it's poking fun at.

Is that how it is? Because that's what I was hoping they'd do. Nothing. I'm not being sarcastic, either, I was hoping they'd just do the show and never mention it.

Like all good parody, they are more love letters to the genre than parody.

GAH! WANT TO RECOMMEND A THOUSAND TIMES!

Plenty of ways to handle it, off course. Ignore it, which would be pretty hard now. Pseudo-ignore, wherein he regenerates but is surprised.

Isn't that where they grew the drugs? God, I love Lensmen. So bombastic and just f-ing crazy throughout.

However Matt Smith goes I hope it's not as boring and drawn out as David Tennant's. I suppose it will be a bit more "traditional" if Clara is sticking around as the companion. "Caves of Androzani" sticks in my head as the best regeneration with the caveat the 6th doctor's first lines aren't the greatest.

That's why a lot of the best stories are the best stories in comics - they have endings. The monthly on-goings will never have endings, and they really can't. I read mainly stuff like Fables and Chew now, but I still keep up with the superheroes.
