I saw the original series in first run in the ‘60s. I was expecting The Orville to be just a comic a riff, but it’s really a serious reboot with occasional MacFarlanes thrown in.

Sweet! Looks like a lot of the humor is coming from the crew interacting, which is nice -- it’s what made the humor in the first season work (like the scene with Bortus eating inedible things).
