Circa 2002, when I was in college. He did songs with Ashanti and J Lo that were everywhere at time, but he hasn’t really been relevant since.

I felt the same way after I watched the Netflix version. When the pilot who spoke up about capacity on the island, sewage issues (that they didn’t have enough toilets) and that the tents weren’t going to work was fired from the project, did any alarm bells go off about Billy’s leadership? Billy didn’t want to hear…
I laughed so hard at the first part of this — I’ll always think of him as BJ Customs Guy now lol
Thank you for your insights about Bumble. This may also explain why the conversations felt odd on my end — I’m sure those men were chatting with/getting messages from multiple women.
Oh I totally believe it! Although I am new to Tinder, I’ve heard from several younger friends and read tons of horror stories here on Jez for years about how shitty men can be on the app. So far I’ve lucked out and haven’t run into any abusive creeps or unsolicited dick pics (thank god!).
It’s the same thing where I’m at. In addition to the dead fish thing, majority of the men here seem to be really into hiking.
I hear you about making the date low-pressure, like meeting for ice cream or going for a quick walk. But in my case on Tinder, men were unmatching me if I wasn’t immediately available to meet that same evening, or didn’t give out my phone number right away after matching.
I grew up with uncles and friends who fished for sport, so I totally get taking a photo of the catch, and sharing the photo with friends/maybe posting it on Instagram, but as part of a dating profile? It’s super weird to me.
Thank you :-)
I know, right? What kills me is that this guy was in his late 30s. Definitely too old for this shit and old enough to know that a woman is NOT going to go over to a stranger’s house at 11 at night!
Oh no! I honestly wondered if I’d have better luck if I lived in a bigger city. I’m in a small town (the entire metro area, plus suburbs and rural areas make up only 800,000 people) but hearing about your experience in Boston makes me wonder. I agree about the finance bros — no thanks!
Just wanted to say thank you for this thread! It really helped me a couple of weeks ago when I shared that I was dealing with a really bad bout of depression, and your encouraging comments to me and everyone else really does help. Thank you again!
No I haven’t, thanks for the recommendation! I’m definitely willing to give it a try. Sorry to hear about your break up -- what happened?
What is it with narcissists and birthdays?! My mother is a narc, so I can totally relate.
Happy New Year, Jezzies! I have shared with some of you that I finally bit the bullet and set up an account on a couple of dating apps (Bumble and Tinder) in early November. All I’m really looking for is companionship — it would be nice to share a fabulous dinner or see a movie with a guy and not someone who is a…
I’m glad that your annoying co-worker moved on! I work with someone who has a similar personality, and being around her can be really grating. In my case, I know the annoying person is never going to a leave and is a lifer at this company, so I’m stuck with it for now.
Absolutely the worst, especially when they ask for it at the end of the meal.
I have a similar story to share, although it involves someone else’s goal for a dry January (not mine).
Holy shit, that is so abusive on his part! Outright saying that you didn’t deserve it. I’m so sorry that you went through that. I feel like nearly all of us has dated some iteration of that man at least once, especially when we’re in our twenties.
You hit the nail on the head. This is why so many men don’t believe us when we share our experiences about what it’s like to navigate this world as a woman, and our concerns (about so, so many things) are often downplayed.
