My grandparents were the same way, keeping stuff everywhere. They had difficulty paying their bills and had once been rather successful but had never really adjusted their lifestyle. They just kept accumulating stuff, more than likely as a coping mechanism. They once argued that they couldn’t possibly have a lower Read more

One of the best ways we found to combat this with my grandmother was to have a rep from the local auction house come in and evaluate items that she didn’t want to get rid of because of the “value”. A few items were not worth near what she thought and some were quite valuable. Once she got over the shock of the items Read more

I love Genevieve Gorder and was super excited when her own home renovating was put up on Netflix. I wish she would do the Fixer Upper kind of show, bringing her diversity of style choices to HGTV.

That was the part that got me was “Biblically-mandated”. Heaven forbid someone be a dedicated father and spend time with his kids....

Oh, I totally understand that. The scariest book I have ever read is The Psychology of Batman, which discusses all the disorders and such that makes psychotic villains like Joker, Zazz, etc. It made it all too real for me and I had nightmares for a while about it.

That is exactly how we celebrate it in our family. We take pride in knowing that we can really revel in the Christmas spirit for 2 days. After that, none of us care anymore about Christmas and it is time to move on!

We went to a Halloween party one year where the host put on Jesus Christ: Vampire Killer. She put it on only for background noise because she thought it would be cheesy, but it was a special blend of cheesy, hilarious, awful and too-good-not-to-watch. She was so mad because it just shut the party down because everyone Read more

My mom’s friend was the victim of a home invasion and thankfully she wasn’t home. But for weeks afterwards, she stated it wasn’t the stuff missing that was the worst, it was knowing that someone else was in her house and could come back. That was seriously the worst part for her.....

My family and I are Pagan and we do this as well. At any large gathering or for holidays. We have an old thrift store silverplated tray that we put a little of everything on, a small amount of wine, and a candle. We do it to honor our ancestors and any other spirits that might be dropping by. We leave it there Read more

My mother and I both apparently inherited the trait from her grandmother, because we both have dreams that would spookily accurate. Nothing so cool as missing persons like your mom does. Ours tend to be very bland and dull!

I think it was Huntington, West Virginia where her parents lived. Which is nowhere near me, so no in-person archive digging for me. I have spent many an hour looking for info on it and my husband, while he thinks it would be cool to find, wonders why I spend the energy on it. My great-grandmother HATED my mother and Read more

As someone who has accidentally had really off friends like this in the past, I highly recommend reading a book called “How to Disappear” by Frank Ahearn. Great info about how to protect your info so someone from your past can’t just google you or find out your new address from a clerk at the utility company. Written Read more

See, my family is in agreement that a haunted house would be cool as long as it isn’t malevolent. There is actually a haunted house for sale in my hometown that the real estate company has decided to run with the haunted house marketing aspect of it. A very vanilla house, built in the 70s, but reportedly very haunted! Read more

Oh my goodness, I do this too! My mother and grandmother have always relayed a story to me about my great-grandmother, who used to have prophetic dreams. She dreamt that she was walking and found a house and before she even went in, she knew the entire layout and details of the interior of the house and that something Read more
