My understanding is that a migration of one mile per year is considered pretty fast, for ancient peoples. So it’s not like ancient migration was, like, a group of hominids traveling a couple of hundred miles in a year. It was more like a group of hominids moving “down the street” every year.

Yeah, a lot of minority literature expresses viewpoints and experiences I already have, and often times they echo conversations I have with relatives and other minorities, so a lot of it is simply redundant for me. At least that’s the best guess I can muster.

People usually attribute this sort of thing to “cognitive dissonance” but it’s more confirmation bias. People remember anything that supports what they want to believe and ignore everything else.
