I forward the argument that it wasn’t the assault that killed her, it was the community’s and legal system’s barbaric response that truly traumatized her. Bad things happen, but people who get ostracized and brutalized by the people that are supposed to have their back? Devastating.

Police have uniforms for a reason. They have highly identifiable police vehicles for the same reason: so that we know they are the police. A bunch of dudes in shorts and polos jumping out of a Kia Sedona could BE ANYBODY.

Anecdotally can confirm: I have disposable income that would allow me to buy a newer vehicle, but I’m quite happy with my looooong-since-paid off 10yo, 15yo, and 26yo and 36yo vehicles.
