They got around the safety laws by not being popular. Those rules only applied to vehicles manafuctured in higher numbers than TVR could achieve.

Don't feel too bad about driving a 535i. People I've known within BMW reckoned the 335i was better value than the M3, and the 5's usability should more than make up for its extra bulk.
