LMAO I keep telling my husband the weather back home (New England - not Prov) and tormenting him with “when I apply to grad school, this what we’re up against.” Suffice it to say he’s pushing for the West Coast to prolong his inevitable cold move.

Thank God I have the week off from work :) Anyone else interested in contemporary African American artists? I’ve fallen for Kara Walker and would LOVE to talk to someone (besides bugging my husband and rents) about her.

I can virtually guarantee that that’s the most excitement the Carmel PD has had in a decade. I love that town but it just reeks of “let it be, they all can pay it off and make it go away.”

You know, I might be a Bey convert. And Bruno Mars killed it. I totally got Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation vibes from this show. LUVS IT.

I never noticed the slip-up but I have to say that I LOVED that show. And I am feening for Chris Martin’s Jordans.

Will do! And thanks!

Sounds kind of like what happened with me. I lost my ability to be all road-ragey at the height of this miserable illness. Now I have it back and feel mostly human again, it’s just my singing voice and the upper registers of sound that I lack. Although it tends to be fine in the shower....

Thanks so much! I’m on the mend FINALLY, I just don’t sound so great and I can’t sing/yell. But I’ve kinda gotten used to the rasp and it almost suits me. I think :o/

Several. I’ve had more doctors look at me over the past couple of weeks than I ever thought possible. They can tell me what it isn’t - not strep, not pneumonia, not mono. Maybe the flu, but definitely a persistent virus. And I’m LOADS better than I was a couple weeks ago.

Awww, thank you so much! Reading that made my day. Right now, I’m actually not in a public school (though I was in two very rough ones when I first started several years ago). I teach an extremely privileged group of students who have never really been exposed to the material I’ve been studying and introducing to

Oh that’s terrible, I’m so sorry :(

Thank you very much for your kind words. It most assuredly is and I’ve hung in there longer than I ever imagined.

Anyone else have laryngitis for several weeks? This is my second or third week of hoarsey/raspy voice and I’m a bit tired of it. Damn plague remainders :(

Nope, not technically. I’m leaving to prep for entering grad school - hopefully a Ph.D program, and also because I want to take more classes and study for my GREs. Also, I’ve been teaching a bunch of different age groups and subjects for several years now, and I’m really burnt out from it.

I have four months left at my job (thank the LORD!) and I actually had several proud moments this week while teaching a unit on Black History/African American Studies. It was so incredibly moving to see my students invested in a subject that is so close to my heart. I feel so very privileged to have shared these

Ooooh I really want to see your hair now.

My husband and I moved pretty quickly, but we started living together after an amazing vacation and two months of dating. When we spent long periods of time together, I could tell he was the only human I could tolerate in my personal space for an extended period of time.

Marie, I will miss you. Thank you for creating this social and encouraging lurkers like me to speak to those Jezzies we admire :)

Yeah I was super dehydrated so I drank water at what I thought was a reasonable pace but I got to late at night and my body decided it didn’t want that and the waffles (from earlier) in me any longer so it came up and I’ve been trying to keep things down since then. First time I can recall being this ill in awhile and

Thanks for the well wishes! I feel a lot better than I did and am much more optimistic now.
