Some of it is familiarity, but a larger part is texture and graphical style. Mario Oddyssey and most Nintendo first-party stuff is pretty basic and simple graphically. There isn’t the same depth as in, say, Fallout 4, GTA V, AC Origins, etc. (That’s not to say they aren’t “pretty”, but they’re certainly not trying…
