With a forced perspective technique, that could’ve easily been done. Articulating the facial animations realistically would’ve been the most challenging aspect, though you could combine practical with CG by blue-screening the face and using a digital rig for all the facial animation.

It is ridiculously easy to use - all you have to do is put tea leaves in, put hot water in, let it steep, and put it over a mug. It takes literally 5 seconds to rinse it out and clean.
